((Sorry for poofing; had to go do schoolwork.))
Darn it, I'm scaring her. Rachel debated the idea of trying to reassure her . . . but no, that type of reassurance would probably do more harm than good. So she simply sped up as well, simultaneously trying not to look too threatening. ------ Lydia fell in step beside Jack as they headed towards the station. "Someone did this, yes, but did we find them, no. Headquarters has a city-wide search on for the people who did it . . . but we're unfortunately short on clues about who it might be." She paused. "Have you heard from Andrei lately?"

Jack shook his head. "He's not around much. He works all day and does heck knows what at night." He shrugged. "Might still be looking for dad."

"Hmm." Lydia pressed her lips together. "Do you know anything about who was in the [group Andrei was in that I can't recall the name of]? If any of them would have the ability to do something like this?"

Javez shook his head. "They're all gone. Nowhere to be found."

"They could be in hiding." Lydia didn't pursue the question further, however. Instead she sped up slightly as they neared the station.
Then the ground started rumbling again- quietly. A crack opened up in the sidewalk in front of the station entrance, rapidly growing into a pit. Simultaneously, a smooth wall of stone and concrete rose up to block the station's doorway.

Anna broke into a run when she saw the station's entrance. Almost there— She caught herself just in time before running straight into the growing pit, a shriek catching in her throat. Waving her arms to catch her balance, she watched in silent shock as stone rose and blocked any chance of jumping across. "No, no, no..."

((The pit's on the other side of the door, jsyk.))
Rachel broke out into a run as she caught sight of the rising wall- but she arrived moments too late. Oh no, oh no, oh no . . . She glanced around, saw no one suspicious- but who could tell? And whoever did that was probably outside anyway; they wouldn't want to trap themselves . . . probably.
She put a hand on the girl's arm, steadying her. "You ok?"

Anna pulled away slightly, hugging herself. "Y-yeah," she answered softly. "H-how will we get out?"

Rachel bit her lip. "I don't know. We'll figure out something, though. Or someone will come and break down the wall and let us out- or, if enough people were desperate, we could go down the train tracks towards the next station. Like I said, we'll figure something out." She offered the girl a smile. "You did good back there, by the way."

Anna blanched. "O-oh, um, t-the lady? I-I just heard her calling for help...g-glad she was okay..." She looked at the wall and sighed. She could get them out of there, but not in front of everyone.

"Right, her. Like I said, you did good. Thanks." Rachel shoved her hands in her sweatshirt pockets. "Don't worry. Someone will come soon." She turned to look back at the crowd. Others had noticed the blocked doorway, and come to investigate, but most remained huddled together in the areas least affected by the quakes.

Anna clenched her hands into fists, pressing her lips together. She wouldn't last much longer trapped like this. But the others couldn't see...they'd lose their minds, after what just happened. They might even blame me for it.

Rachel, sensing disturbance, glanced again at Anna. "Hey . . . are you sure you're all right."

She nodded quickly. "Y-yeah, just...c-claustrophobic." That was true. She hated cramped places. And now, stuck with all these people, the exit barred...it made her shoulders tense up.

"Ohhhh. Ouch." Rachel slid a hand into her pocket and pulled out a cell phone. "I can call one of my friends who's outside, if you'd like, see if she has any idea when help might be coming. Orrr I could help you look for a way out."

"G-go ahead and call...dunno if you'll g-get a reception..." Anna moved a little distance away to give Rachel her space, and sat down, twisting a ring on her finger.

Rachel checked her phone- a few bars; not full reception but plenty to contact the outside. She selected Lydia's name from her contact, hit call. A few minutes later, she shoved her phone back in her pocket and headed back towards Anna. "My friend says that help's coming, but it's crazy out there- it'll take some time. Can you make it?"

Anna nodded, pulling her sleeves down over her hands and hugging herself.

Least convincing response ever. Rachel didn't comment, though, just nodded and said, "Well, good. If you need anything, just come grab me, ok? I'll be glad to help."

"No problem." Rachel wandered off again to see where her help was needed, but she kept one eye on Anna, just in case. ------ Lydia turned, searching the nearby buildings and such. "Your guess is as good as mine."
Feminine laughter came from somewhere nearby- where exactly was hard to tell. A moment later, a slim figure slipped down a narrow sidestreet.

There was a muted click as Jack whirled towards the noise, his Beretta leveled. "Twenty bucks it's that chick."

"Bet you're right." Lydia headed towards the sidestreet, a faint, almost invisible glow surrounding her hands. "Let's find out." She jogged over, peered down the narrow road. There was the girl, walking quickly but casually away.

((Ooh, interesting.))
Steve was busy finishing his fast food to go dinner when the news started going on about earthquakes and trains. Interested, he turned up the volume and set aside his Dorito Taco.
"Sounds like my kind of party," he said with a grin.

Jack hurried around the corner and spotted his quarry walking carelessly away. "Hold it!" He shouted after her, and racked his pistol loudly to emphasize.

The young woman stopped and turned, a playful smile on her lips. "What? Need something, handsome?"

"What the (heck) are you doing?" Jack demanded, quickly losing his self control in the mounting adrenaline of what was happening. He leveled his weapon, gripping it tightly.

The young woman spread her hands in a gesture of innocent confusion. "Me? At the moment, talking you?" She tilted her head, a hint of danger creeping into her smile. "What do you think I'm doing?"
Lydia stepped up behind Jack, content to let him talk for now.

"Make it fifty bucks." Jack muttered to Lydia. "Now would be a good time for you to flash your badge." He said, louder this time. As he spoke, he concentrated hard--on making an illusion of his standing form, and on concealing his real self as he approached the person in question.
