I had a grand and glorious day of writing yesterday, and so my current count is 14,488 words. And yet I'm still not caught up to Dmitri.

Props and kudos!
I'm proud of my achievements over the week, including extensive martial training with longswords and knife fighting. I am NOT however proud of my writing, which has yet to exeed 5,000 words xP

Where are doing longswords/knife fighting? That's what I want to know.

Different friends here on campus. Some of em made a bunch of practice swords, and another guy is a military pro with training knives. Knife guy was only visiting though

Dmitri Pendragon: Good for you. And here I thought I might've caught up to (or even passed) you temporarily, given your previous tendencies. Total for February 24th: 18,861 Aaaaand I actually don't know how competitive I'll be for the rest of the month because I actually finished Monster in the Castle yesterday! Which means I have no WIPs for the first time in two years. It's weird. And I'm celebrating with a short Sanderson reading spree. Also, a question: who's interested in doing this again in March? Also, if anyone is interested, how would they feel about allowing both writing and editing to count? (I ask, because my goal for March is primarily editing over writing.)

Leilani Sunblade: Congratulations on finishing your book! How long has that one taken you? On the March Word War: I'll compete until I've finished The Teller's Apprentice, which will hopefully be in the first week. February 26th. Total word count: 22,685 words.

Dmitri Pendragon: Thank you! And this one's taken me about two and a half years now, possibly closer to three . . . I started it in April 2013, and I've been working on it on and off ever since. Glad to hear you'll be participating at least some of the time for March . . . what are your thoughts on including editing in the challenge?

Leilani Sunblade: Two and a half years…whew. That makes my one year on The Teller's Apprentice pale in comparison. It must be a strange feeling having that one done. I'm not sure. I think it's fine to include editing, but in March I want to delve deep into the history and planning behind The Teller's Apprentice and organise the Shard of Elyon series so I know where I'm going and what to set up in the first book. So I doubt I'll participate in the editing part of it, but I'm happy for the challenge to include editing.

Dmitri Pendragon: Yeah. I was working on other projects during that time too, though, so the amount of time I actually spent on it and not another novel was probably more like, IDK, a year and a half? Something like that. And yes, it is a strange feeling. All right then. Thanks.

Heh... So, I've been meaning to post a month, but I'm waaaay behind in word count, so I was trying to get it up some. But I've been procrastinating, so I've haven't written that much. >.<
Anyway, my word count for the month right now is 9,000 words, buuuut I'm hoping to get a lot more done... And I do plan on participating for March as well.

Hey'a, Idk323! I wasn't sure if you were participating or not 'cause of the whole job thing . . . Hope you can get more done like you're hoping to. And I'm glad to hear you're in for March.

Heh... Well, I didn't do a whole lot of writing the first two weeks or so because of that, which is why my word count isn't as good as it could be, but I still intended to participate. I hope I can get more done too... It's only a matter of staying focused, I think. >.< Hopefully I'll do better in March, but either way it still keeps me motivated.

1,800 written and almost 7k cut. I'm starting to accept that every step forward I take is going to be canceled out by seven backwards.

Well, we are counting editing in this challenge, so there's that? And if you're making the story better . . .

Post by jliessa44 on Mar 7, 2016 13:52:26 GMT
Heh. I suppose it is. I realized that that there were several scenes that were supposed to come later in the novel that I needed to have earlier. And unfortunately they didn't match with the old scenes.

It's not as bad as a couple cuts ago when I cut out 10k at least. That one was depressing.

Wow . . . I don't think I've ever cut out that much. Though I know there's one story where I may have to do just that . . .
