I don't know why Astin supports her, but let's be honest, if you support either Hillary or Trump you're making a serious mistake. XD

I support Trump only as a tactical means of anti-supporting Clinton. Simply not supporting Clinton is not enough, in my opinion. I believe it is our duty to do what's best, even if it means defeating the worse of two evils by supporting the lesser.

But if you really wanted to support the lesser of three evils, support Gary Johnson. Does he have a chance? Not very likely. But the question is, do you vote on principle or, like you say, on the least bad.

Unfortunate as it is, in all practicality there are only two real choices. Voting for someone else may feel like it makes a difference, but it really doesn't...the battle is between two evils in the end

I'll stop posting about politics on the film thread now, but yes, in all practicality you're right. The point of voting someone third party is to make a statement ... if enough people did, it would at least get some national attention. I don't think it'll make a difference to many people, but there is a small chance that it could, some day.

Perhaps. I'm just more concerned about the immediate thread of a criminal madwoman taking the presidency
MOving back to film....have you seen Beyond the Mask?

As the second post of this thread says, I got to shake hands with the producer, but I haven't actually been able to watch the movie yet. How about you?

Oh lookey there. Haha YEah dude! You gotta watch it! I've seen it a few times, I like it
Edit: WHAT THE FLUBBER I tried to post this last night

What the flubber. Lol. There's a quote I've seen floating around that's from C.S. Lewis that describes our duty as Christians when seemingly faced with two evils.

"I feel a strong desire to tell you - and I expect you feel a strong desire to tell me which of these two errors is the worse. That is the devil getting at us. He always sends errors into the world in pairs - pairs of opposites. And he always encourages us to spend a lot of time thinking about which is the worse. You see why, of course? He relies on your extra dislike of the one error to draw you gradually into the other one. But do not let us be fooled. We have to keep our eyes on the goal and go straight through between both errors. We have no other concern than that with either of them." - C.S. Lewis

I've seen Beyond the Mask! I thought it was really enjoyable and fun to see. Good story, and well executed. I'd like to see it again in order to put together a more accurate analysis, but I haven't heard any word on whether they're producing a DVD or streaming option.

I just saw Samson at Sight & Sound. It was beyond incredible. It was the most epic theater production I have ever seen. Walls literally came down. I am still astounded by its awesomeness a day later. There are few things more awesome than seeing one guy take down thirty soldiers with a donkey's jawbone. And seeing foxes with burning branches tide to their tails run across stage. And watching a man carry a thirty foot tall gate up the aisle?

How biblically accurate was it?

I'd say it takes about as many liberties as an Adventures in Odyssey or VeggieTales episode. As an example, it was narrated by Sampson's father (to superb emotional and comedic effect). I haven't read the story of Sampson from the Bible itself (although, since seeing this production I am definitely going to as soon as I finish John). The only thing I didn't really like about it was that they were trying to make Delilah into an innocent and relatable character who chose to do bad things (Delilah's "arc" is also the only criticism I have about how well the story was told, too). I don't know if there's any Biblical basis for that, but overall that didn't distract the heart of the story too much anyway.
But overall, they absolutely nailed the theme of the story. Very well done. It should be an inspiration to anyone trying to tell a non-allegorical Christian story.

Well, my family had it for a couple months. We watched Faith of Our Fathers, that was pretty good. Seeing Rebecca St James as a car-jacker made my day xD

I saw War Room the other night. I was surprised by how good it was, honestly. Of course it had a lot of flaws, especially in story structure, but at least it was moderately entertaining and the emotion didn't flop.

War Room was pretty good, yeah. More for spiritual value than anything else, but still good.
Hey is anyone interested in scary movies? I watched Lights Out over the weekend...absollutely fantastic. Not too much bad content (still deserving PG-13 but not pushing the budget by any means) I usually agree with Plugged In reviews, but I have to say their review for Lights Out was very poor and unjust.

I actually really liked war room, God's Compass too. For all their faults they were still entertaining. And as someone who usually dislikes Christian films I feel that's high-ish praise.

Yes, the War Room is one of the best Christian films I've seen. I really liked it, and would watch it again for sure.

Corpse Bride was awesome ...

It's 1940s mostly. It keeps getting compared to xmen, but I don't think it's similar other than kids with powers. But it's really interesting, and I thought it was well done. Plus Samuel L. Jackson with crazy scientist hair was absolutely hilarious. Idk. It was weird, and idk about every the plot but I loved the characterization by the actors.
I actually just finished Corpse Bride. It wasn't bad, but it made me really sad.

Ah, okay so much later than late middle ages. But yeah totally XMen. Powers, taken to a school for special kids, teacher says I'll show you how to use you're abilities, etc etc. Still totally wanna see it. Of course Sam Jackson is crazy xD

I saw the trailers and it looked pretty neat. But the thing is, I usually like to read the books before I watch the movies, and the books just look... really... creepy. Maybe they aren't and I'm just judging them by their covers.
