Hey, so I did something dumb during a game tonight and ended up with pretty bad carpet burn on the tops of my feet. If you could just pray that it'll stop hurting so much, that would be great.

Quick prayer request that I forgot to put up last night: I'm giving a speech today for one of my classes, so if you happen to see this before 9:r50 AM EST and you don't mind saying a prayer for me, that would be wonderful. Thanks!
Update: the speech went well! Thanks to those who prayed.

Wow, no one's posted on this thread in a while. I have final exams for four subjects starting this week, with the first one--Physics--being tomorrow. Prayers that I can pass them and hopefully do well would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm going to get my driver's permit tomorrow. (Yikes!) I'm not too worried, but... I'm a little uneasy.

Great! What kind of license is it? Do you have learner, restricted, full like in NZ?

I would guess that we do, only the terminology is different. We have a permit which you get just from taking a knowledge test. You have to do 65 hours of skill-building driving using your permit. And after that in no less than 6 months you could get a junior license. That's basically a real driver's license, only you can't drive until after 11 at night alone. And then at 21 (or 18, I'm not sure which) you get the official driver's license. Different states have different rules too.
Looking at the NZ government website, it seems that they are basically equivalent. Only that the NZ theory test is a little harder, because you have to answer 35 questions and get 32 right instead of 18 questions and get at least 15 right. XD

In my state the curfew is lifted at seventeen, and at 21 your license/permit is flipped to landscape to show at a glance that you're legal to drink. But I think each state has its own laws.

Warrior of Aror: Yeah, ours are quite similarāthe learner licence is provided after a knowledge test, and the recommended number of hours is 120 here. No, we don't have shorter hours in New Zealand. Our restricted licence lets you drive on your own, but not between 10 at night and 5 in the morning, and you can't take passengers except a select group of peopleāparents, spouses, dependent childrenāunless you have a fully licensed adult in the front passenger seat. Full licence is just what it sounds like, and you can get it a year and a half after your restricted. Both restricted and full licences require practical tests. jliessa44: Probably every independently governed state in the world has its own laws.

NZ is definitely a bit more rigorous then. I never heard of anyone here having to take two on-the-road tests.

Well, it shows in the dataā0.007% of the United States' population injured or killed in 2015 in car crashes, versus 0.002% for New Zealand. Population sizes have been adjusted. ( source / source) You be careful over there.

In the U.S. probably most of that's drunk driving, let's be honest. Also, people drive like speed limits aren't a thing. The highway limit is 70mph, so people are gonna go 80. 'S worse near big cities. I hate cars, I refuse to drive.

Ours in drink driving, and speeding...and a lot of accidents caused by foreigners visiting. I don't mind driving but I have yet to do a long distance drive on my own.

I can confirm Liessa's statement about the speed limits thing. I generally try to drive the speed limit or just below it, but I will admit that there are times on the highway when everyone else is going faster and I literally have to go like five or ten mph faster in order to be safe.
Also, prayer request: my family is househunting again. Prayers that it would go well, that we'd find the right house, and that we'd be able to get an offer on that house accepted within our timeline would be fabulous. Thanks!

Dropping in with an urgent prayer request for my cousin, who's been in hospital since Friday or Saturday from anaphylactic shock. Scans show there's been damage to her brain (the word her parents used was "significant" damage), and we don't know whether she's going to survive. Prayer for God's healing and a full recovery, for her family and extended family, and for the doctors attending to her would be very much appreciated.
EDIT: Thanks to everyone who's been praying. Long way to go yet. If you'd like to hear any more news, feel free to PM me.

Thank you all for your prayers. My cousin died on June 29. I haven't said anything before now because I wasn't ready to say it in writing (who wants to be the bearer of bad news?) and for the past week I've been away. We (the extended family group) would appreciate your continuing prayers, especially for my aunt and uncle and their other children.
