It rather annoys me when someone makes a movie based on a book, but veers from the storyline to make up/delete stuff.

Yes. I know a lot of people like that, and there are particular books which I'd want a movie to stick exactly to the original storyline—The Prisoner of Zenda, for example. That's my favourite book, ever. But I'd like to see Jett use his motorbike again. He should have.

Kirenyth Fireblade: I know exactly what you mean. In my mind, the Eragon and Percy Jackson movies don't exist. Lord of the Rings nearly had that treatment. One movie company that Peter Jackson went to wanted to make it into one movie, combine Rohan and Gondor into one country, make Boromir and Eowyn siblings, and I think erase Saruman entirely. So, yeah, I'm glad Jackson turned down the offer.

....whoa...... Still, Jackson still messed up the Desolation of Smaug--I don't even need to count how many times he screwed up on that one!!

@aa: First book or trilogy? If it's the first book, I agree- the first is definitely the best. (The rest of the trilogy isn't quite as good, sadly.)

Ooh. I really liked Divergent. The book I mean. I have to agree with Leilani, the second two weren't as good.

@leilani, the first book. I'm still waiting for the next book to get back to the library. So in the meantime, I satisfied myself with reading the overlapping scenes from Divergent and Four at the same time.

Kirenyth Fireblade: That's Sanderson for you- about releasing Ruin, anyway. Just wait until the next book, though. It gets . . . well, both worse and better, depending how you look at it. So you're happy about Elend becoming a Mistborn? Interesting. @aa: Ah. What do you think of the Four stories? @wookiee: The name sounds familiar, but I can't place it. What does he write?

@leilani: He wrote all the Shannara books.

Ohhhhh. That's why he sounded familiar. I haven't read those yet, but I've considered it. Are they good?

@leilani, I liked them. It was interesting seeing everything from Four's point of view.

Well, I finished Omega Dragon, and then read The Alloy of Law, Steelheart, Calamity, The Way of Kings, and Words of Radiance. I'm beginning to wonder whether I should have waited to start the Stormlight Archive until /after/ they were all written ... am I going to be perpetually waiting for the next book for the next 15 years of my life?

@aa: Cool. I wasn't as into them, but that's good you like them. Jag Starblade Starblade: Yes, you will be. But you'll have an immense number of people to keep you company, so there's that.

Just finished The Bones of Makaidos... Wow that was a good book!!! Jag Starblade: That's how I felt when ToU came out. even though it came out a short time before I read CotSK, it wasn't in the library... I prefer to get into a book series a couple years after it's finished; that's usually when the local library has it!

Has anyone read Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas? It's $1.99 today only and I can't decide if I want to buy it or not. >.< I've been interested in reading it for a while, but idk. For those who've read or know anything about it bad points, good points?

I actually really liked it. ^.^ there wasn't really anything inappropriate, aside from some kissing that wasn't described in depth. Ther was some minor cussing, and summoning of things that were evil... But that didn't bother me a whole lot. They worship a goddess and her family, which might make it a no no for some people. Oh, and the MC is an assassin. But I did like it. Lol. Non of that bothered me, but I like to warn people it might bother.

I read the entire Throne of Glass series, as far as it's released. Plot and character-wise, they get better as the story goes on. There is one scene in the second book that I had to skip because of inappropriate romantic elements; otherwise the level of caution stays more or less the same through the series. It wasn't my favorite series in the world, but it was pretty good.

I liked them and I think it's mostly because I became absolutely fascinated with the plot. The dream treading and lucid walkers and the dream fabric and stuff were so cool to me. I think he could've written them a lot better though.
