NightBlade: Awesomesauce. Sadly, my library doesn't have it, so I'll have to either listen to it on YouTube or wait until I have money to spend on music. Or until my birthday.

I shall do that after I finish investigating Twenty One Pilots. *nods* Haven't the foggiest. I don't use Spotify either.

Heh. I use Spotify, and yes they have it. Leilani Sunblade I love Twenty One Pilots. Their lyrics are so cool.

Idk323: I'm just now listening to their music . . . some of it's pretty cool, I'll agree. I like "Heathens," "Fairly Local," "Stressed Out," and "Lovely." But some of it is just weird, in my opinion, and I can't get into it. ("Car Radio" would be the prime example.)

Heh... Well, Car Radio is actually one of my favorites. That one, Migraine, and Holding On To You.

Yeah, I know I'm in the minority with Car Radio. (I asked for recommendations on another forum yesterday, and almost everyone who recommended anything to me said that song.) But I'm just not a fan of it. And I haven't listened to the other two you mentioned yet.

It's mainly the lyrics for that one, but the rest of it grew on me after I started listening to them a lot.
Those ones are my favorites, plus Kitchen Sink as well, but I like the rest of their songs equally.

NightBlade: Sorry, missed your post. Also, I didn't take you for a hipster. xD But I don't care if it's mainstream, just if it's fairly good and/or catches my interest and/or gives me a story idea. Idk323: Coolness. I just listened to "Addict With a Pen" and liked that one pretty well.

Idk323: Coolness. I just listened to "Addict With a Pen" and liked that one pretty well. Haha. "Hipster" is a title I try to avoid. They're seriously as mainstream as anything else these days. But yeah, if something even resembles moving water, I'm getting away from it xD

NightBlade: I won't argue with your first statement. But two questions for you. First, why? Second, what counts as mainstream? Because Skillet, at least, is pretty popular among Christian teens, if not in the world at large.

Well, I just loathe the thought of being a conformist. Yknow, being anything short of a pure, 100℅ individual. As for Skillet, well, I liked them when they were less popular and still did small town shows and stuff. Awake was the album that made them go big and I was more of a Comatose kinda guy. I like a number of things that are popular now...Halo, Deadpool, stuff like that, but I got on those wagons before they were crowded. Star Wars is the only blatant bandwagon I'll admit to jumping on x)

Ah. I can understand that, I suppose. But I don't really have that concern- maybe because I know that I like so many things that are so far from the mainstream that liking some things that are popular as well won't make me conformist, and even if it did, I'm going to react to those things and process them and put them together with other things in a way others quite possibly won't. But in general, I'm getting the vibe that you liked things before they were cool (to use the hipster-cliche phrase) and so if they became more popular after you found them, you're fine with that?

I like what I like and I literally don't care if it's cool or not. lol. Doesn't bother me one way or another. I don't really like twenty one pilots though. They're not bad, and I kinda like a couple songs, but they sound so emo...

Ja, that about sums it up. Yeah I don't have a sproblem with liking popular things as much as having a problem with joining big bandwagons. I'd rather catch em on fire haha

jliessa44: Maybe they do sound emo. But some of their songs sound cool, and some of them sound like story inspiration waiting to happen. And then some of them just sound weird but I'm trying to avoid those ones. NightBlade: Heh. Catching things on fire certainly sounds like you . . .

Has anyone listened to Ghost Ship yet? (Theocracy's new album)
Concerning Twenty-One Pilots, look closely at the lyrics... Tyler Joseph is a genius, and practically no word is wasted in most of their songs. Polarize would be a good example of it. I'm not saying they're perfect messages (though usually better than they seem at first), and they are very emo, but they are very well written.

My current favourite thing is to listen to Jealous by Labyrinth and the same time as Heal by Tom Odell (with the youtube videos, I start Jealous about 3-4 secs earlier than Heal) and it's like the most perfect thing ever (except Jealous is a longer song which doesn't quite work then).

(My sister got me started listening to them. Their music is pretty weird but it grows on you.)

I've decidedly disliked them up until Blurryface, which I kiiiinda like. A bit. My favorite nuance band is Starset. And they're still pretty fresh, that is, not popular-mobbed yet

I actually do kinda like them. I didn't quite at first until after I had listened to a few of their songs. Stressed out is probably my least favorite by them that I've heard and it was the first one I'd heard. So that probably had something to do with it.
I wouldn't say I'm a 'fan' but I do listen to them with some regularity. I like The Pantaloon, Miss Believer, Johnny Boy, Migrane, Truce, House of Gold, Ode To Sleep, and Addict With a Pen.
For me their popularity doesn't really matter, and neither do the confusing lyrics (which was the other reason I was kinda iffy about them at first) because the music and emotion behind the songs are good for drowning out bad days.

I like some Twenty One Pilots. Not all of their songs; I haven't listened to all their songs; but some are cool. And several of the songs have a good bit of story potential behind them, once you unravel what it is. NightBlade: Starset! Have you listened to any of their new album? (I've only managed one song because I've been on a steampunk/Nightcore kick, but yeah.)

Yeah it's better than their other recent stuff, but not quite as good as their original songs Nightcore? NIGHTCORE? D:
