((I definitely still want to do it as long as everyone else wants to. We have a direction we can go in if we wanna try out the idea Leilani and I came up with...))

((Okay! Wanna go ahead and try the idea Leilani and I came up with? Here's the idea that Leilani posted: Darvel gets caught by the PC, and then Angel goes to Cale's to tell Bryin and we see what goes from there. Would one of you be ok with playing PC? If not, I'm sure Katrina or I can handle it- though, Liessa, if there's anything you know of that we should keep in mind that's not in the intro, that would be helpful?))

(( Leilani Sunblade Annnnd, I hadn't responded to your last post but I feel like we were sort of stalling. Not entirely sure so I'm just going to respond.)) Darvel snorted, doing his best to appear as if he thought that the whole thing was no big deal. "I don't know where you got the idea that I was scared... I don't need you to do this for me, I can do it myself..." After a small pause he added, "Hopefully..."

He was scared. Definitely scared. Angel resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "Sure ya can." She scanned the market, pausing in a corner. "Ya wanna pick the busiest shops- the ones where no one's got time ta notice anyone but themselves. Then ya just slip in, casual-like, take a look at what they got, and decide how to get what they got out a' the bins- palm it, or bump it so somethin' falls out and ya can pick it up real quick-like. Then ya get away 'for anyone notices anythin'." She paused, inspecting him. "You're tall for this, but . . . ya can try. Jus' don't 'tract 'tention."

((I think the basic thing to keep in mind is that this is crooked law. Each station has a death quota and they have to put so many people to death each month, but the jails are usually so congested that if you can bribe an officer, or know someone to get you out, it's not impossible to get out. ))

Darvel nodded slowly, turning to glance at the shops. He opened his mouth to say something, but then frowned and looked back at Angel. "You don't think my height is going to be a problem, do you? I mean... I mean, there's not anything I can do about it, but..." Trailing off, Darvel rubbed the back of his neck. He still wasn't completely sure he wanted to go through with this. ((Thanks, Jliessa. I still think it's awesome how much world building you do.)) ((Leilani: So, would you be okay being the PC?))

((I can do that, sure. Or we could share it out, playing different members.))
Angel shrugged. "Tall people can be sneaky too, I guess. Are ya doin' it or not?"

((Okay, I'm fine with that. )) Darvel huffed quietly. "I am doing it, just don't rush me." Taking a deep breath he scanned the market, trying to pick which shop to go to. When he finally settled on one, he bit his lip and took a hesitant step forward. "Okay, I... I guess I'll be right back..."

"Good luck." Angel leaned against the wall. "I'll be here. Or somewhere."

Darvel nodded back at her as he walked over to the busy shop. He tried acting casual as he got closer, but ended up looking a little awkward instead. He was still fairly unsure about just exactly what he should be doing, and it showed. But still he was trying to make an effort to use Angel's advice, so he glanced over the items the shop was selling, and continued to try and appear casual.

Angel kept watching, frowning slightly. Darvel was attracting some attention- glances from both buyers and sellers- but they were still ignoring him for the most part. He might actually make it out of this.

After a couple of minutes of just looking around at everything, Darvel inched over to some bread. Once he was close enough, he quickly grabbed a loaf and held it at his side. Then without looking around, or waiting to see if anyone noticed, he turned around and began to walk away.

Stupid, stupid- It actually looked like he might make it, even if it was rather obvious to anyone who bothered to look- But then Angel noticed the PC officer making his way through the crowd. There was no way he wouldn't notice Darvel- particularly not if Darvel noticed the officer.

Darvel didn't notice the officer, but that didn't mean his pace was the same slow one he used to walk over to the shop. Hoping he was far enough away from the shop, he began to walk faster, almost running as he wanted to just get the rest of it over with.

The officer also sped up. The crowd parted for him as he strode forward, stepping into Darvel's path too late for Darvel to notice. "Where do you think you're going?"

Darvel froze and slowly moved the bread behind his back, hoping the officer wouldn't notice. "It's none of your business." He answered with a frown.

The officer grabbed Darvel's arm. "Wrong answer. You think I didn't see you?"

Darvel gritted his teeth and attempted to yank his arm away. "I don't know what you're talking about. Just let me go and leave me alone." He half yelled at the officer, trying his hardest not to get nervous.

"I don't like your tone, boy." The officer's grip tightened on Darvel's arm. "And I saw what you did- how you got that loaf behind your back."

"So what?" Darvel glared hard at the officer, not entirely sure what else to do. Of course it was just his luck that he was awful at stealing things.

"So what-" The officer rolled his eyes. "I'd shut your mouth before you get yourself in more trouble, boy." He unclipped cuffs from his belt. "Come quietly and you might get off easy."

Going anywhere quietly was nearly impossible for both Bryin and Darvel. As much as he hated to admit it, he was just as stubborn as Bryin as well. So when he saw the officer reach for the cuffs he tensed up and impulsively threw a punch at the officer's jaw.

The officer's fist came up to block the punch- and then to return it, aimed at Darvel's eye.

Darvel's head snapped back as he got punched. He groaned and briefly thought about trying to punch the officer again. Though it hadn't worked well the first time, so he decided against it.

The officer jerked Darvel's arm, intending to force him to turn so he could cuff Darvel's wrists.

Darvel didn't resist the officer at all. He really didn't see any way to get himself out of this situation. "So... How much trouble am I in?"
