Bryin glanced up at Cale, allowing himself a small smile. "I don't know about that... He might have gotten so tired of me that he decided to run away, and getting caught was the only way he could think of to do it." Glancing back at Angel, his smile changed back into a frown. "But why would he put himself into that position in the first place? He told me we'd have enough money to last for a couple of days, so I don't understand what he was doing."

"Wellllll . . ." Angel attempted her innocent, "don't know nothing" face, but it fell flat. "I mighta nicked some money off 'a 'im . . ."

Cale edged over to Eli and leaned in close. "This making sense to you?"

Bryin raised an eyebrow. "You stole his money and he didn't try to kill you? And he didn't get it back from you either? Because if he had, he wouldn't have needed to steal anything..."

Angel rubbed the bruises forming on her arm. "'E tried. But I'm too fast for 'im . . . an' then 'e realized I needed it more'n 'e did, 'cause a' my sister. An' I'm sorry 'bout your brother, but Kayla an' me do need it more."

Bryin tilted his head as he listened to Angel. When she finished talking, he shook his head. "Right... So that's what happened. Makes sense I guess. He let you keep the money because he felt bad for you, and then he went and got himself caught by the PC. And on top of that, now I have to figure out what to do..."

"'E didn't feel bad for me. 'E just realized I needed it more." There was a difference. Angel wouldn't have accepted pity; she accepted the truth. "An' I dunno what ya should do, but ya might wanna decide soon . . ." She continued edging towards the door, not quite leaving. Because she didn't want them to notice her going, she told herself- but, if she'd been honest with herself, because she was starting to feel a bit guilty about this whole situation . . .

"I gather she stole his money, and then took advantage over his idiocy to get him to steal stuff to make up for it. And he got caught." Eli continued to cradle the sleeping Ella, smiling reassuringly at Jo, and then shrugged at Cale. "And now she thinks telling his brother will make up for it." Eli frowned, listening to the conversation at the door and watching the involved through narrowed eyes. "Or that's what I gather anyway."

"Ah. I was hoping I'd misunderstood." Cale frowned. If the kid truly was a first offender, it wasn't likely he'd be chose to fill the quota. But that depended on who was choosing, and the number. This close to the end of the month, it was more likely that they'd pick people at random.

Bryin sighed and bit his lip. "How can I decide what I'm going to do? It's not exactly like I have options... I just... I don't know how I'm going to do it..."

((@ryebrynn: It's set in Liessa's dystopian world- details on the first post. She explains it better than I can. Plot-wise, at the moment Bryin's brother got caught by Population Control for stealing because Angel stole his money first and then made him feel sorry for her (though she'll deny the latter). Then she went to go find Bryin, who's with Cale (who you might remember from Liessa's stories?) and Starsinger's characters.))
Angel shrugged. "I dunno that either." She stopped, nearly at the door. "But . . . if ya figure it out . . ." She hesitated, unsure if she wanted to say this- but aware that she couldn't face Kayla if she didn't. "If ya figure it out an' I can help . . . I'll try."

(I think I have this figured out....
Name: Nala Petrov Age: Nineteen Gender: Female Population No.: 13-3559-32 Appearance: Black hair, brown--almost black--eyes. Wears a red trench coat, black pants, loose black shirt. Has several scars, three on her face in various places; her cheek, her nose, and her chin. Also has scars in many other places, hidden by her clothes. Scars on her wrists as well. Carries a multitude of weapons, including the latest type of gun, some old daggers, a sword, and copious amounts of poison and flame-oil. Wears black combat boots. Hair is tied back into a bun, usually, though when let down reaches nearly to her thighs. Would be considered beautiful if not for her scars. Personality: Doesn't trust easily, but can be very patient. Doesn't like being challenged. When with friends she loyal and funny and happy. When with enemies she's a force to be reckoned with. Rank: Escaped mercenary History: Lived normally until the test at age ten when she ran away from home and was taken in by mercenaries. Was trained to kill but finally escaped the mercenaries six months ago and has been running ever since.
How's that? Where can Nala come in? Let me know if I got something wrong world-wise.)

((There's three parts of the population number. The first digit is 1-5 to show which colony you're from. In this case, it'll be 1 for Probitas. The next number is 1, 2, or 3, for Inner (Richies), Middle (Middle Class), or Outer (Slums) Ring. Then there's a dash, followed by the character's birth year. In the case of Nala, it'll be 3559. Then there's another dash and the character's birth number- so, if your character was the 459th baby born in her birth year, that's the birth number. And then the whole number is in a different color ink depending on which ring your character is from- blue for Inner Ring, green for Middle Ring, black for Outer Ring. If you need a refresher or don't understand, all this information is in the third paragraph on the first post.))

Let's say 32) Then it will be black.)

Bryin glanced at Angel. "Well... If you're offering to help, you should help me figure out what I'm going to do instead of just waiting for me to figure something out on my own." He looked over at Cale and Eli. "You guys could help me think of something too..."

Bryin huffed and frowned at all three of them. "Okay, fine. I didn't actually need help anyway. I just thought it be more interesting with someone else around, but never mind." Still frowning heavily, Bryin headed for the door. "I'm leaving. Thanks for nothing. You guys are all boring anyway." As he started to walk through the door he mumbled, "I only wanted ideas anyway... I didn't ask anyone to actually get Darvel out for me..."

More catering toward Post Apocalyptic, but with some dystopian elements

Here it is!
It has been one hundred years since the nuclear war that nearly wiped humanity off the face of the earth. What fraction of humanity remains is huddled in the ruins of old cities that were spared from the nuclear apocalypse.
Europe has been divided into two main factions. The New Soviet Republic and the Reich dominate Europe. The border is at Old Warsaw in a radiation zone, but peace is nearing its end. The two factions grow stronger, preparing for war. Any independent cities are at the mercy of the coming storm.
Rules: Pick a faction, Reich, NSR or other. This is the post apocalypse. Everything is ruin and wasteland. Keep in mind, the environment is as much an enemy as adversarial combatants.Food, water and ammo are in short supply. No crazy technology. Let the war begin.
