Recreating this thread. To start it off, I'm pretty ticked off at the fact that we have all these illegal immigrants pouring over the borders and then wanting rights. They aren't even American citizens, all they did was cross over illegally; why should they get any rights at all? Secondly, this also ticks me off: www.inquisitr.com/1949155/american-pride-dance-cancelled-at-massachusetts-high-school-because-its-not-inclusive-enough/^ An American Pride dance was cancelled in Massachusetts because it "wasn't inclusive enough"... what? This is the USA. You're in our country - if you don't like the fact that we're proud of our heritage, then just get out and stop trying to push all your crap on us. There was also a news article I read a few weeks ago about some absolutely stupid University in California that tried to ban the Stars and Stripes on their campus because it "symbolized racism and xenophobia". What the heck? Once again, you are in the USA. If you don't like that we fly our country's flag, go back to where you came from. To conclude, I'd like to say that I am not against immigration. Just illegal immigration. Rant over. :D

Well, starting strong I guess. I pretty much agree with you, although being a Canadian, it doesn't overly affect me. But I agree with what you said about the flag thing. If you don't want to rep. your country, and what it stands for, well then no-one is making you stay there. There are plenty of countries to choose from.

Precisely what Phenomenon said... Including being Canadian.
Okay, I read the article now, and that is in the running for the stupidest things I've heard... I am of the opinion that the US has a bit too much national pride, but that's taking it Wwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy too far in the other direction.

Phenomenon: Agreed. I mean, why get all worked up over someone flying their country's flag when you could just go back to where you came from? @ Lērtāen Miklul: Yeah, it's crazy. And I can agree that some Americans have an excessive amount of pride for their country. ;P

And I can agree that some Americans have an excessive amount of pride for their country. ;P While I agree that it's absurd, not everyone can or wants to go "back to where they came from". Some people are refugees from war or something. And on the topic of illegal immigration, I would argue that it's a little more complicated than that. Many of the illegal immigrants are also refugees--the problem is that they either don't know how or can't make it through customs for whatever reason. So they get to the fabled "land of opportunity" and milk and honey, Canaan--I mean, ahem, America--whatever way they can. Also, what do you mean by "rights"? The constitution even says that there are certain God-given, inalienable rights that belong to every human being. The government doesn't GIVE these rights, it's job is to PROTECT them.

I feel that it's the Mexican government's job to take care of it's own people, but also that we can't just sit around and let people suffer(which applies to all people, of course, not just this case). But I don't know if that should the be American government's job or what.

I'd rejoice if Justin Bieber went back to Canada. :P
People are so overly-sensitive and soft these days, and it's pretty annoying. It's basically like this...
"Hi, my name is Super-Sensitive Thin-Skinned Guy and the color of that wall offends me a lot because it's white/black/etc. Please change it, it's racist."
Seriously, I swear people don't know how to not whine about everything.

You don't have to look far, considering the Supreme Justices just legalized gay marriage.
I mean...seriously? These guys aren't even elected officials! They don't get to make these important decisions for the country. For them to say that gay marriage is legal is like having grizzly bears decide the fate of a group of salmon—it's gonna end badly, and it's basically pushing God out of the picture. So now He can't make the important decisions, but some dudes in black dresses can.

Tbh I don't think it's a good topic to debate. Because it's a topic that people often forget to think about in moderation.
I personally believe that being gay is wrong. I think that the legalising of gay marriage further retards the morals of society, but things like that have been happening for hundreds of years. In you US people's case, believing the judges have overstepped their bounds, this sort of thing has been happening for so long.
However, one of my best friends is gay. She knows that I believe it's wrong, but that I will still always be there when she needs me. And I know that she will always to her best to not have me end up in a situation where I feel forced to compromise morally.
When this sort of topic is discussed people tend to feel free to dehumanise, and say terrible things about gays. They are fellow sinners, just like the rest of us.
We have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

I'm not really that upset about legalizing gay marriage, cuz people will do what they will do. They'll be gay if they want, legal or not. BUT... What DOES tick me off is the implications of this legalization. Now, Christins will be even MORE forced to smile and comply with every request from these blasphemers of marriage. If they can be gay-married when they want, I just think should be able to disagree if I want. jliessa44 what are your thoughts? You can ping me

Hm. My biggest issue with the whole homosexual marriage thing is simply that it's entirely a downwards spiral. Me and a mate got on the subject at lunch today and it made me think. Now that homosexuality is widely becoming accepted, their biggest argument is, "We were born this way." That argument can be used in the defence of anyone. Murderers, psychopaths, pedophiles. How can they say no anymore? There's no place to go but downwards now.

Post by Starsinger on Jul 4, 2015 20:55:57 GMT
I've definitely had that thought too. Except that the allowing marriage thing won't be the catalyst, I don't think. And it's already been legal to be gay for a good while.
We are all just going to have to pray, and use our voices.
My biggest concern at the moment is now there are discussions on Euthanasia since earlier this year a woman petitioned the court for the right to die...the court ruled against it, this time. But now it's getting out there.

Post by CNGoodhue on Jul 4, 2015 21:33:18 GMT
The thing about the whole "I was born this way" argument is that the existence of a "gay gene" hasn't been proven a fact.
Also, here are my thoughts on the subject.
I think that homosexuality is wrong and that God's intention, marriage between a man and a woman, has been distorted by sin. However, it's not any better or worse than the lie that you or I told the other day. But I'd also like to say that I'm not going to try and control anyone's life or the way that they choose to live it. As long as it doesn't affect me, go right ahead and marry that dude. Therein lies my biggest problem with the gay movement. Forcing Christian bakeries to bake you a cake for your gay wedding? No way bro. That's basically supporting an act of sin. Plus that sounds like just plain harassment. Why would a gay guy go to a Christian bakery and ask for a cake for his gay wedding, knowing that Christians detest homosexuality and that it goes against their beliefs? Sounds like this was done looking for a reason to cry "homophobe".
Anyway, that's my opinion. Take it or leave it haha.

The "born-this-way" thing is indeed very concerning. But I have a best friend who is living proof that the "feeling" can come and go, eg be overcome psychologically and he's totally straight now and loving it

I think it's hard to judge on. I watched my best friend try very hard to like guys for all the five years we were together in middle, and high school. But I have had another friend who had the tendency come...she immediately went to the school shrink, and that helped her deal, and now she's happily going out with my brother.

Yet another sign. Human wickedness is rising sharply. The time is close, my friends.
America is in for some harsh judgment from God. America has turned away from God, and God's given us all the warnings to come back.
Although homosexuality isn't any different from other sins, it is one of the sins that will keep you from inheriting the Kingdom of Heaven.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
Of course, repentance is as available for homosexuality as it is for every sin.
You can agree or disagree, but that's my say on the matter.

I would like to make a distinction between "homosexuality", that is, homosexual inclination, and the act of following through with this inclination. The latter is a sin, just as is partaking in the marital act outside of marriage. But I would argue that simply having an inclination is not inherently sinful in and of itself. Let me give an example: Say you're at the store and you really want that bike, or candy bar, or whatever it is that you want. You don't have the money, but you really want that candy, and you sort of want to just take it. I mean, it's just a candy bar, it won't hurt anyone, right? But instead of taking that candy bar, even though you had the desire to do so, you choose against it and leave the store without the beloved candy bar :'( Now, have you sinned?
