Yes and no? I think it should be illegal.

So feminists want to be able to have and do everything that men have and do...except for what they have to do. Like drafts. They don't want that.

I see no correlation between feminism and not wanting to do drafts, so I do not see whatever point you are trying to make...

He's saying that (apparently) there are feminists who do not want women to be forced into the military, and that that is wrong because if they really wanted to be equal with men they should have to take on the same responsibilities.

Ah, that makes more sense and sounds less worse And in which case the point is pointyful. ....Though coming from here where there's no drafting, I think the idea of it for anyone, unless during say a world war is stupid... and if that were to happen.

I agree! My post up there said something along the lines of "But the draft is basically enslavement anyway..." but I decided to edit it because that is awfully inflammatory around Americans. XD

Just lump everyone in there, eh?

Post by Starsinger on Sept 7, 2016 8:53:06 GMT
There are too many of you, JJ, it's easier just to lump y'all together But yeah, I do think that there are few times when drafting in necessary.

Most Americans, if you want to be picky. At least a lot of the outspoken conservative ones.

Heh. Well it was also directed to Nightblade.
But I'm ambivalent on the draft. Unless there's a WWIII no one is getting drafted. We already have a huge army and we have a huge reserves force. So really it makes no difference to me whether my name could come up on the draft. There is already (in the U.S.) a system set in place after/during one of the WWs for women to be drafted, it was just never put into action. And I wouldn't mind fighting to serve my country in that I wouldn't enjoy it but if I got called up for draft I would answer because it would be my duty.

Lump em all into the draft? Yeah, definitely. The equality package doesn't conveniently stop before the call of duty

No. Lump all 'feminists' together. Generalized statements about an entire group annoy me. Epecially when it's not all of them who believe that, or even most.

Well, arguably that could be applied to everything. Like, literally everything ever. Soooo....

Wellll..... It still applies.

Is it enough of an outlier to be worth mentioning? If it's like 87 out of 100 feminists, then let's just call em feminists.

Post by jliessa44 on Sept 8, 2016 1:15:20 GMT
But that statistic is wrong. I would argue it's not even most feminists want that. Most women maybe but not all women are feminists. And as I stated before it's a moot point. No one is getting drafted right now.

Alright, so what is the statistic?

Idk if there is one. If there is one then some idiot has too much time on their hands.

Alright...so this argument is founded on...?
|
|

Post by jliessa44 on Sept 8, 2016 3:16:10 GMT
It's not an argument. I stated that I got annoyed when people lump everyone together, in a joking manner that wasn't solely addressed to you. I then clarified what I said.

I did. Kind of boring, really. Trump wasn't as funny as he usually is, and Hillary not as creepy.

I liked that Trump gave an actual compliment whereas Hilary basically said "I like his kids"-- which isn't really complimenting who he is as a person-- and then switched to her agenda.
