Rhi gave her a tiny smile in return. "Yeah. And I feel the same way with a lot of them."

Kiana nodded. "Though, I guess there's some you'd have to say goodbye to whether you wanted to or not . . . at least for a while."

Rhi nodded. "Yeah. Some of them will be happy goodbyes, like the idiots in the cell block. I won't miss them."

Kiana snorted. "Their own mothers wouldn't miss them. Well, probably not."

Rhi laughed softly, then went quiet for a moment. "I wonder what'll happen to them...will they stay here, when we get released?"

"Hard to say . . ." Kiana shrugged. "I guess it would depend why they're down there. If they're murderers or whatever, I don't see them getting out."

Rhi frowned. "So we'll just...leave them to die?"
((I'm sorry, but I'm not feeling 100%, so I'm gonna go lie down and hope that whatever I'm fighting goes away. I'll post later if I'm up, or tomorrow.))

((That's fine- go get some rest. I'll probably get off soon myself anyway. Hope you feel better tomorrow!))
"Not to die. But . . ." Kiana shrugged. "Normal murders go to prison for life pretty often. Why should any murders in the cellblock down there be any different? Even if they got out, it would probably just be to go to another prison. And the ones who are in there for lesser crimes, I guess they'd go free for the moment and then the regular system can deal with them."

Rhi sat up, hugging her knees to her chest. "Some of them deserve to die," she said faintly. "Others...meh."

"Meh?" Kiana cocked an eyebrow. "Does that mean 'you could care less' or 'not really'?"

"As long as they don't escape and try to cause trouble, I don't really care about them." Rhi shrugged.

"Makes sense." Kiana nodded. She slid off the bed and wandered to the rooftop's edge. "

Rhi watched her, silent for a moment. "If you've got things you wanna do, go ahead. Don't stay because of my rambling."

Kiana shrugged. "I don't know what I want to do. But I might go for a fly for a while. If you don't mind."

Rhi nodded. "Yeah, you go do that. I think I'll take that nap..."

"You enjoy that." Rhi probably needed it . . . so did Luka, but there was nothing anyone could do about him. Kiana jumped and then took flight, circling upward until she was at a comfortable height.

(('Tis fine. I'm going to be writing again most of the afternoon anyway, so I'll be on and off.)) ((EDIT: WookieeElf)) ((*is taking a liberty or two* *hopes it's ok*)) Stephan continued to follow Charlie's trail, which at one point led him up through the East building towards the roof. Realizing that there was next to no way she could've gone through so fast without some creature up here noticing, he shifted back to human form before stepping out and glancing around in search of anyone or any creature who could actually talk and potentially give him information. ------- Kiana, meanwhile, had come in for a landing near the gardens. She glanced around for anyone she knew and wanted to say hello to- if she didn't notice anyone, she'd go say hello to that dryad, Thespia, and try to snag another few chocolate cherries or whatever other treats she could find. ((I'm hoping for a response to Stephan, obviously- a response for Kiana isn't absolutely necessary unless there's a character who might be in that area who you feel like writing. So no pressure.))

((Almost forgot this thread existed, oops. Shows how much my brain is working these days.))
Ven looked back from his spot on the roof as Stephan emerged. He grimaced slightly. The shifter was most likely on Charlie's trail. "Need something?"

((Heh. I only just now replied, so . . .))
"Nothing much." Stephan chose his words carefully- to avoid alarm, and to avoid aggravating Ven. He knew as well as anyone that the winged man had a grudge against those on the ground as wide as the Caine family's grudge against Stephan himself. "I simply needed to know if you- or anyone up here- has seen anything . . . unusual."
|
|
|

Ven almost laughed. Almost. "We live in a *beep* madhouse. Everything's unusual," he said with a touch of scorn. "Haven't you noticed?"

"I have." Stephan crossed his arms, trying not to look threatening. "Has anyone wingless come up here, then? Besides me?"
|
|
|
Post by WookieeElf on Apr 10, 2016 1:00:32 GMT
"Wingless come and go, I pay them no heed," Ven replied, fixing Stephan with a cold look. "Unless they annoy me. Then I respond."

|

Stephan bit back frustration, though some leaked into his tone in the form of sarcasm anyway. "The Keeper of the Wings does not notice when one of us lowly wingless intrudes upon his kingdom? I find that hard to believe."
|
|
|

Ven's wings quivered with suppressed rage. He wouldn't hurt Stephan, only because he didn't want to be put in a cell. But how he wanted to. "I have important matters to attend to. More important than you wingless mortals. Besides, you all bore me. I'd rather shove a stake in my eye."

"I expected that as you were so suspicious of us, you would find it very important indeed if any of us should threaten your little realm." Stephan shut his eyes for a moment, trying to calm himself. He should have known better than to try to talk to Ven . . . yet many of the others up here didn't speak in a way that was easily understood. Some, Stephan was fairly certain, barely understood the human tongue at all. Opening his eyes again, he added, "But if you did not notice, who up here might have?" Whether or not Ven or anyone helped didn't really matter- Stephan's nose told him that Charlie had indeed been up here. But it would be useful to know if anyone had noticed.

Ven shook his head. "I have been alone and unbothered for a while. If anyone was up here, I didn't notice."

"Ah. Well. Thank you." Stephan turned away, stepping back into the stairwell. At least he'd finally gotten an answer . . . now the question was, follow the trail around the roof to make sure she wasn't still up here without Ven having noticed? Or try to pick it back up on the ground. Ground, I think. He doubted Charlie would've hid up here. And even if she had, she'd probably be long gone by now.

It had all happened so quickly. One moment, Alice was trapped in the scary white halls in her mind with no escape. The next moment, her powers had broke wild and she didn't know where she was. Then she had gone and gotten herself hurt again...she was running scared through the woods and didn't see the tree branch. Now she was curled up under the tree in a miserable ball, clutching her abdomen and crying quietly through clenched teeth. Annie could always fix things like this....but she was far away, so so far away...
