NightBlade: You kind of put five…hmm…what's the word? Grey characters. You put five "grey" or "black" characters on one side, those who have less moral constraints than "white" characters, and four "white" characters on the other side. The quality of each person's character would mean Deadpool, Javez, Kayma, Kara and Alice would win, because four are hardened killers and one is currently being hardened. Yes, I'm reading the Supers thread.

Exactly what kind of battlefield world are you imagining here? Somehow I feel like you're assuming this is the Roman's time and homeland...? 20 tanks wouldn't go anywhere without their logistics complement...reciprocal logic #4 "engulfed" with what? Burning grass and brush? And nonetheless, no, no it wouldn't. Once again, it depends on the terrain and available resources. A unimart station is all the tanks need to win indefinitely. Swamps aren't particularly common. But easy to detect. Once the Romans are inside, the tanks could trap them inside and easily outlast them. Dmitri Pendragon Yeah taht was somewhat deliberate, but I also tried to balance it. I know this is off-topic btw, but I'm kinda bothered that you've not answered my PM questions....why?

I was assuming that is was a blank world, essentially. What were you assuming?
Reciprocal logic? I was just going by what the scenario was suggesting . . .
Engulfed with pitch. And what proof do you have that a tank that is literally on fire would not cook the people inside? But even if it couldn't, it would wreak havoc on literally every aspect of the tank until it actually did hit the gas tank. A machine gun can't shoot if it is on fire! Plus, all the ammunition would go off as a result. Now they have nothing to fight back with. Incendiary weapons would be the Romans' greatest tool. They can keep them hidden behind a hill while the footsoldiers distract the tanks, and then BOOM out of nowhere the tanks are on fire.
Swamps are particularly common in a number of places like Scotland. That's essentially what William Wallace won his battles with. But it doesn't take a swamp to stop a tank. A river, steep and rock terrain, thick forests.

NightBlade & Warrior of Aror: What both the tank team and the Romans don't know is that a long-ranged missile is bearing down on them from the sky. Everything explodes and that's the end. *bows*

Yes but who was the last to be annihilated? (Yes I'm counting down to the milisecond.)

A river, steep and rock terrain, thick forests. A blank world filled with swamped, rivers and rocky terrain but no gas stations...so basically the Roman homeland/time period? Reciprocal logic. It applies both ways/directions. How in the flaming heck do you propose the Romans will engulf a tank convoy with pitch while somehow staying out of firing range??? Pitch fires have a pitiful burn intensity in exchange for its persistence. Well besides what I said about Molotov cocktails, flamethrowers and burning wreckage that I mentioned earlier? These aren't WWII steel tanks we're talking here. No, it wouldn't wreak havoc on pretty much anything. No, it would not affect the gas tank. No, it would not affect the ammunition. And no, fire will not prevent the weapons from functioning. I honestly dunno where you get these ideas. Once the Romans engage the tanks, they could run back to their swamp but the tanks would outmaneuver them, cut them off, and herd them like sheep while slaughtering them all the while. But the Romans already lost when they started retreating. Missile? Which sort? Nuclear? All die instantly. But in the tank, perhaps a seconds longer.

It's actually a party missile, full of cake, sparklers and party hats. But it's all on fire and the icing is mixed with napalm.

Oof. Well, I'm afraid the Romans are gonna get the worst of that one

I'm thinking the same.
Tank surrounded by Romans, missile drops on Tank, Tank and Missile explode, napalm rains down on the surviving Romans. Everyone dead.
That settles that argument. Now...
Master Chief, Wolverine, Galadriel & Princess Leia VS Javez, Thorn, A Clone Commando & Lydia.

I would reply to the rest of your post, NightBlade but it seems like you're ready to move on anyway. I'm still convinced that if a tank is on fire it would in fact damage it and cook off all the ammo, and you didn't give any information as to why it wouldn't.
By the way, I had fun debating. I hope you enjoyed it too.

Alright, well tanks are fireproof enough that a direct hit from a molotov or other incindiary weapons are harmless. A direct hit with a tank round to the ammunition compartment OR the gas tank of a modern Abrams tank cannot ignite either. I have personally talked to tank crewmen as well as watched documentaries and LITERALLY nothing but state of the art anti tank technology can crack an Abrams. Besides, pitch burns at a low temperature and there is absolutely no way to apply pitch to the tank without getting your butt completely obliterated by a 120mm cannon! I've said all of this before, what more do you want???
It used to be fun but now you're just dragging it out to a ridiculous extent xP

Ya don't need to crack an Abrams to incapacitate it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1_Abrams#/media/File:Abrams-transparent.pngThe machine gun on top of the tank is absolutely exposed . . . how is that not going to be affected by pitch? As for how they might apply the pitch, that's easy. Like I mentioned before, the Romans were experts at using their artillery in practically any scenario.

Yes I know what an Abrams looks like, I can draw you a cross-section of one from memory. I truly, honestly cannot comprehend how you could possibly imagine Roman catapults covering tanks with pitch while somehow avoiding being destroyed by 120mm cannons with a range of 2.5 FREAKING MILES Edit: and that machinegun is an M2 machine gun. I'm highly skeptical of burning pitch doing anything worse than cooking a few rounds off

Guys, this debate is over. You've both had your say and shown off what you know. Time to move on to a different question.
How about Iron Man vs. Javez (or another Mandalorian; take your pick). Both have their fancy, fairly high-tech suits of armor and lots of nifty and explosive weapons; who wins?
Also, for the Cosmere/CaC2 fans . . . we've discussed Kelsier vs. Gnawthrul. But what about a Steel Inquisitor vs. Gnawthrul?

Leilani Sunblade: Unless Javez can get a hit with his LEAR, I would say Iron Man. His agility is enough to avoid most anything a human can shoot at him, and his armour, although not incredible in the context of Star Wars, would be enough to take a couple lucky hits. Iron Man's weaponry is inferior to a mandalorian's, especially Javez, but I think it would be enough to eventually win. On Gnawthrul vs. a Steel Inguisitor: although I don't know all that much about Gnawthrul, I'd have to say an Inquisitor would crush him.

xXsniparsXx has 1337 hax and intervention w/ 420,360,042,021 rounds of ammunition
CaC2 ppl have every weapon of death they own
i say xXsniparsXx win

CNGoodhue: Is this including the plasma nuke that destroyed Cloud City? XD Ooh... Gnawy vs an Inquisitor, dats a good one. IMO it all comes down to whether or not they know each others powers, strengths and weaknesses. If Gnawthrul knows how to kill the Inquisitor, he probably could (albeit, after a long, near stalemate, fight). Otherwise, he's not going to stand a chance.

@miklul: I kind of guessed the same . . . though, I think Iron Man's laser-hand things would do a number on most Mandalorians.
@gamemaster: Heh. I half-expected you to say Gnawthrul would win . . . I'm really not sure.

Javez uses his (albeit limited) Force power to pin him down, carves open his armor with his saber, and shoots him in the gut ^_^ See, Iron man's weapons are somewhat underwhelming. His repulsor beams and mini rockets would only knock Javez over, his laser would do zilch, all he's got is flying and Javez could take that away. Whereas, Mandos are armed to kill people. Futuristic armored people.

NightBlade: That's basically what I figured except I forgot Javez can use the force. However, I wouldn't say Iron Man can't do damage to a Mandalorian, I just think it would take a while to hit enough weak spots. (Although Jarvis probably could pinpoint them pretty well).

NightBlade: While I'm on Team Javez, it would be a pretty even fight. Yeah, Iron Man's non Force-sensitive, but he works with people who wield telekinesis and telepathy. And, knowing Marvel, he's fought a bunch of them multiple times. So he obviously has mods in his suit to combat this as well. Still, if Javez whipped out a lightsaber, Iron Man is a goner.

Leilani Sunblade: Wellll… unlike Kelsier, Inquisitors can't be killed by conventional means. Gnawthruls not a very creative guy… and he has a metal arm… and a weapon with metal on it… so yeah.

With only limited force power, I feel like Javez would be able to pin down Iron Man. That suit has a heck of a lot of thrust for its size. And considering how many suits he has,I think we can assume he is wearing one designed for combat against someone like Javez. Yes, beskar is stronger than titanium alloy, but the stuff can still take a beating. If he can withstand a few punches from the Hulk them he can take a few laser blasts. Also, Javez has past-istic armor, not futuristic armor ;) Iron Man also had more mobility. Javez has a jetpack, yes, but the mobility there is one direction at a time, and he can't change direction as quickly as Iron Man. Sure he has a lightsaber, but Iron Man could stay out of range quite easily. Plus Iron Man has relatively long range weapons, so he could potentially stay out of Javez's force range altogether.
