Seeing as we don't already have a thread like this, I've decided to create it (I hope that's okay lol).
Has anyone had the chance to use Windows 10 yet? I hear it's good, but I'm not able to try it out as my graphics card is outdated.

Perfectly fine, CNG.
I have Windows 10 on my new laptop. It seems pretty good; I haven't used it a whole lot. I don't entirely like the new start menu format, but it's better than having no start menu (which I think is the case with Windows 8?). Other than that, I like it well enough. (And it's possible that my issues with the start menu will go away after I use the computer more.)

Windows 10 is great imo. And I really like the start menu personally. It works best with touchscreen, I've found

I used the Technical Preview, but I don't want to upgrade my main computer since I still need to have a computer with Windows 8.1 installed. Waiting until I get a new laptop to replace my old one... (which I will still keep, since it has Windows 7)
(Explanation: I provide support for multiple operating systems, so I need to know how to use them and be able to test things on them if necessary.)

(Though, if it works best with touchscreen, that's probably why I don't care for it quite as much . . . my laptop has a touchscreen, but I prefer to use the mouse.)

I like how it has all of the stuff in one area. Your main apps, settings, etc. Basically Win 8 all in a little start menu
I mainly use a mouse but still

Ah. I guess I can see that. It's possible that part of why I don't like it is that, since I haven't used it much, most of the main apps on there aren't things I actually use- they're what the producer thinks I should use.
BTW, does anyone know if the Cortana personal assistant thing is worth setting up?

Ask her about the weather, to make you a reminder, to email someone, to launch an app, web search a question, roll a die, or tell a bedtime story x) My ONLY COMPLAINT about Win 10 is that it doesn't support some of my old favorite PC games

Yup! Oh, Cortana is Master Chief's AI ever since the first game. Her voice on Windows 10 is the same person

Interesting. I'm kind of wondering why his AI takes the form of an actual person? But it's sci-fi, so . . . I dunno.

SHe's not real, she's a hologram. But as for the reason she's an image of a person? Cortana was contructed from the brain of a scientist, Dr. Halsey

Well, I kind of guessed she was a hologram. I meant more the "image of a person" bit, and thank you for explaining that.

As for me, I'm still stuck in the stone age with XP. Giving me issues lately.
I updated to iOS 9.0.1 this morning and found out about 10 minutes later that my current iTunes version isn't compatible with 9.0.1. So I check the Apple site for the latest iTunes upgrade, and turns out it's only available for Windows 7 and up. In the end I downloaded an ipsw and went back to safety with 8.4.1. iOS 9 was slow anyway.

I don't really want iOS9. I'll have to get it eventually, but I'm holding out for as long as I can.

Yeah. I usually wait 'til all the bugs have been worked out

I made the mistake of getting it when it came out for my iPod. X( I had been putting off an earlier update for, like, two months, then decided to get iOS 9 when I saw it pop up. So far, it's okay, the only problems I've had so far is the lag, but that can be overlooked a bit. Layout's a bit different, and Siri's trying too hard to please (even has a new look), and I keep getting offered a three month free trial for Apple Music wherever I go. Otherwise, it's okay.

A few of the apps I use frequently already updated themselves for iOS 9, so I guess there's no turning back.

Heh, I'm having trouble even installing iOS 9 (mostly due to terrible internet). I tried a few days ago and ended getting over a gigabyte of "documents and data" that I can't seem to get rid of. The reason it's there is that when I was downloading the update, if I put my phone to sleep or left the settings app for too long, the download would stop and I would have to restart it. the problem was when the download restarted, it didn't delete the files of the previous failed download, and didn't pick up in the same spot! Gotta love Apple sometimes...

I don't use Cortana, but that's partially because I don't want to grant it access to everything. But from what I can tell it's basically Siri. Cedric: I'm not exactly sure how it works, but there's actually this program called virtual box that basically allows you to run any OS that your CPU can handle. A guy I know who uses Linux runs Windows 10 that way, so he's able to take advantage of 10 while still having the versatility of Linux. And as far as I can tell, if you are working in programming and fancy dancy computer stuff then Linux is the way to go. The internet runs on Linux, after all.

I've never used Linux or Mac, nor do I know much about Linux, so I can't give an honest opinion on the subject. Care to elaborate as to why Linux is best for programming?

I'll try and give you as much as I know: Basically, it supports more different languages, it has more versatility it what you can do with the programs--because you have different languages that can do different things--it has a lot more to work with than Windows allows. I think it might even be open source, but I'm not sure. However, unless you know what you're doing, I've heard that it can also be really difficult to work with simply because you need to be very knowledgeable about what you're doing.

Yeah, I've heard that Linux is geared more towards advanced users. Hmm, I'll have to look into Linux then. My brother and I are going to have to get a new PC pretty soon, and we have no money at all, lol. Our graphics card is breaking, which at first we were just like "oh, good, finally a chance to upgrade". Turns out we'll have to upgrade basically our whole computer to even get the graphics card we were looking at (our comp is pretty outdated haha). It'd be much cheaper to buy a new one completely.

Maybe that's not a bad idea, then. I mean, with BF3 coming out and all ;)
