@leilani. I'm good, I'm doing math at the moment and that always makes me feel stupid because I accidentally put the wrong answer, but other than that I'm good. How're you?

Leilani: That would be epic! I was actually a little disappointed when I heard that Gilan was going to be the Ranger that appeared in Brotherband, but Im still happy he's there. The other day I was thinking about the timeline of the series, and as far as I can figure out, the Brotherband books take place before the twelfth Ranger's apprentice. Though, I'm not completely sure about it... I know, right? And yes, I felt the same- but it's cool to get to see more of him, since he didn't have as big a role in most of the Ranger's Apprentice series. The first three books obviously take place before book 10, since Gundar has the Heron sail plan. Then the fourth and fifth books . . . it's harder to say, but I'd say they take place around the same time frame as the Lost Tales. I'd guess it's before the last story in the Lost Tales, since there's no mention of Evalyn being pregnant or having a kid at that point. Edit: Cloaklover: I'm doing well. Reading, writing, working on roleplay posts.

Leilani: Yeah, that's true. And over all he's a really likable character. Probably the best choice for the series since he wouldn't easily out shine the newer characters. But I still miss reading about Will and Halt.
Ahh, I had forgotten about that. What had mainly gotten me thinking about that was a thought Gilan had concerning his age. Before reading that, I hadn't really given it any thought. Though, now I'm curious as to how John Flanagan sets up all his timelines...

@katrina: Yeah. Maybe one day . . . I had a little, but not much. And maybe at some point I will go through and try to figure out the timelines a little more specifically, but eh. Edit: Cloaklover: I'm rereading the Children of the Bard series in preparation for Omega Dragon. I just finished Song of the Ovulum.

When I'm reading a book, I always like to know how it fits (time-wise) in with the other books in the series. (And so I have a timeline for each of my series. The ones for Yielded Empire and The Arboreal Shadow are each about 2000 words long). EDIT: Leilani Sunblade: Have you got Omega Dragon yet? I don't think I'll start rereading the series until we order Omega Dragon (although, now that I think about it, I probably won't be able to keep up the pace that I used to -- I used to read one DioM/OoF/CotB book a day).

Leilani: One day I definitely would love to read something where the main characters are Will, Halt, and Hal. (And maybe one or two other characters, those three are just my favorite.)
Heh. As a writer, I just curious as to how he decided the timeline and how he keeps it all straight. It's a lot of time for one series.

Jag Starblade: No, I don't have Omega Dragon, but I plan to order it tomorrow, assuming I can decide what I'm ordering with it in order to get free shipping. I'm not all that stressed about not having a gap between books 3 and 4 in my reading, obviously. @katrina: I'd like to see Thorn, Horace, and Stig in there as well. Yeah, it is, particularly since you have two parallel timelines.

Leilani: Lol. Yeah, those chatacters came to mind as well. I bet if a story like that every happened it would be hilarious XD
Yep. And it was that series that inspired me to want to make my series that long, so it would be cool to see how he plans everything out.

Cloaklover: Cool. And yeah, sometimes school eats all your time and it's hard to even get into any books, even if you have a chance to read. @katrina: Hilarious and awesome. Huh. I didn't know that was why you decided to make your Bryin series so long . . . that's cool, though.

CaC2 is killing meā¦I feel like a misting burning baradium.
Fanon: Baradium Ferrings are called Exerters and store adrenaline. Well, calmness. Baradium Mistings are called Exploders and can explode things. And I just stored a lot of adrenaline in my baradium earplugs.

Leilani: Yeah. Though,I don't know about you, but in my mind, a few of the Brotherband characters remind me of Ranger's Apprentice characters. Like Will and Hal seem pretty similar.
Lol. Yeah... Actually it was the Percy Jackson series along with Ranger's Apprentice that got me into writing (and reading). When I started out, I wanted my writing to be like theirs.

I'm sorry? At the moment, I'm still stuck on the fact that apparently our characters should've been pulling on the door rather than pushing it. *facepalm* I shall be able to respond seriously about it in a few minutes, once the implications of the rest of the post hit home.

Leilani Sunblade: I never leave a gap between reading books in a series if I can help it. My Yielded Empire series is supposed to end up quite long ... 3 books at 180K words each plus a prequel novel(la?) at 60K words. EDIT: I'm visually getting my posts and Dmitri's mixed up ... our avatars are too similar

@katrina: *nods* They do. They're both planners, good at thinking up ideas no one else would, and smaller than most of their friends, to name a few similarities. That's cool. I don't remember what got me into writing . . . I think I've always done it to some degree, though it was a prompt in a Gail Carson Levine book that got me serious about it. Dmitri Pendragon: And Ver apparently didn't notice the hinges were on the wrong side . . . otherwise she would've said something like "Um, Helm? Maybe it would work better the other way." Also, how long have you been planning this? Since the Mandalore plot started? Jag Starblade: If I have all the books in a series, I'll often try to read them all in sequence, but in the end, it's more of what I want to read. Particularly if it's a long series. That and I don't know how long it'll take for Omega Dragon to be delivered once I order it. Wow. And I thought my stories were getting long. Cloaklover: Is it just because you're bored with the books available to you? Or is it for some other reason, do you think?

Leilani: Yeah, that's what I was thinking. In my head I've matched up other characters like that too.
Ah, yeah. I think I've always loved making up stories, but I had never tried writing them down until I took a creative writing classes, then after reading those books I decided I wanted to start writing books of my own.

@leilani. Hmmm... I don't know actually, I don't feel bored with the books, I like all the characters and I really want to see how it ends, Sometimes I feel like reading sometimes I don't. It could be because I have been in the middle of watching some shows and all I really feel like doing is finishing them.
Awww, bye!

I think this subplot is fully deserving of a book in the Legendarium. I wasn't sure . . . I can never tell with you; you plan so far in advance. And if you do that, I want to read it. (Of course, I want to read all your Legendarium projects, so I'm not sure how much that's saying.) EDIT: Umm, what's a Mistborn? It sounds really familiar... Mistborn is an epic fantasy trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. It's amazing, and I highly recommend it.
