Either? I use both about equally.

Dmitri Pendragon : I figured so. xD You are very welcome! How is life as a library assistant, by the way? Still going well? Yes, I'm pleased with my work at the library and it fits in well with the other things I'm doing. Recently as part of my professional development I was able to fly up to the Auckland Writers Festival to volunteer at the 3-day programme for schools. I went in name as a librarian but in heart as a writer.

Dmitri Pendragon: Glad to hear it! That sounds like so much fun! I would love to go to a writers' festival or conference, haha. So did your library have some kind of booth/table thing there? What do librarians do at a writers' festival? (I mean, other than secretly being writers who are trying to learn all the things?)

Cool beans! I'll send you an invite to mine. So what are you thinking of working on for Camp? Not sure exactly. I have a loose idea of some people who were trapped by a criminal organization getting rescued, but idk.

Dmitri Pendragon : Glad to hear it! That sounds like so much fun! I would love to go to a writers' festival or conference, haha. So did your library have some kind of booth/table thing there? What do librarians do at a writers' festival? (I mean, other than secretly being writers who are trying to learn all the things?) If you can make it I had a great experience at one! So the Auckland Writers Festival put out a request for volunteers to help with the Schools Programme. A lot of librarians, teachers and retired teachers from the North Island volunteered but my workplace was the only South Island library to send people up. Most of what I did as a volunteer was setting out notebooks for the thousands of schoolchildren attending the sessions, answering directional queries and helping with ushering (they had professional ushers there who were quite capable without us though). From the viewpoint of the people coming to the Festival, my library's presence would have been hidden. Professional development was the justification we heard. For me as a librarian, I think my most significant professional development opportunity was hearing the authors speak about their books and their lives as writers. Much of my work day is occupied by books and it was really good to listen to the people "behind the shelves" so to speak. Also: finding more New Zealand authors who write what I read, and attending the Ockham New Zealand Book Awards on one evening and watching the writers receive their prizes and give acceptance speeches.

Dmitri Pendragon: Cool beans! That makes sense that they'd call librarians in to help with the practical putting-on of the festival. Also, once you've read some of those NZ authors and know which ones are really good, can you pass on names to me? Most of what I read is by American authors and I'd like to diversify a bit.

Leilani Sunblade : Absolutely! I recently read Cally Black's In the Dark Spaces, which is about alien relations and intercultural conflict and hits right on the themes I want to write. She also writes for children under the name Bren MacDibble and the one I've read under Bren MacDibble is How to Bee, which was a good story as well (though In the Dark Spaces was definitely better). The numerous Deltora and Rondo fantasy series by Emily Rodda (Australia) were a fixture of my childhood and were early influences on my love of fantasy—possibly the earliest.

Dmitri Pendragon: Cool beans! I'll look both of those authors up; thank you! In the Dark Spaces sounds particularly cool; I want to read more sci-fi.

Is anyone still alive enough here to answer a "how are you"?

I'm well, thanks :) Today is my Underground Birthday, it's Sunday, my legs hate me for running a 5k yesterday, and I can relax a bit. 'Tis a good day. How are you?

Happy birthday Ellron!
I think I'm okay. My summer semester is just starting and I am also trying to pin down a gnarly scene in my novel so I can do a small NaNoWriMo challenge this month. The two do not work together well.

8 years since joining the original Underground today. Some of the best memories of my younger years were spent with some of you incredible people. Thank you for giving me the unconditional support and encouragement of true friends.

Ellron Silvertree: Glad you're doing well! Happy belated UG birthday! And congrats on making it through a 5K! I'm doing pretty well. I've had to move my writing to the back burner, which is frustrating, but classes are going well. Dmitri Pendragon: Oooof. Good luck. How many semesters do you have left? I feel like you should be on the verge of graduation by now, unless you're only doing college part time. Eruanna: ERU! I've missed you! And thank you for being here.

Leilani Sunblade: Three semesters including this one, five more courses (out of 20). I'm double-majoring so my BA is three and a half years and I didn't start full-time so it will be stretching out to nearly 4. But the last semester (July–October 2020) will be practical experience and half the hours of the other semesters. I HAVE worked out the planning for my troublesome scene. Now I can write!

I did that a few weeks ago with my friend when I was telling her about "this forum that I used to frequent in high school, and still keep tabs on." I'm so grateful for all you people.

Dusty, eh? Well that just won't do. I'm allergic to dust, you see. And I'm rather fond of breathing, so... Let's just take care of this, shall we? *Whips out feather duster and whirls about the room in an altogether excessively dramatic fashion, dusting everything. Literally everything*

Morning, is it? Seems as if I overslept... And a long night it was; but what joy to know that these halls are more than one of those passing dreams.

It is the afternoon, dear Warrior. You have indeed slept late…as have we all, it seems. What sights have enthralled you during your long slumber?
