Leilani Sunblade It's kinda the same as the industrial revolution of post-War in that we just did whatever was necessary to grow the economy, with little thought to the impact - post-war especially, planning the obsolescence of products so people would have to replace was, and still is a huge part of the economy. Except these countries now have a huge way to go to catch up. Anyway, I just find it very interesting, and enjoy having problems to try and solve.

Leilani Sunblade Thanks 😊 it’s definitely a long-term goal, so we have quite a while to wait and see if reality matches expectation 😂

Well, that's something, I guess. Pretty bummed I missed out on this place's heyday, though. Always did love the Berinfall books.

Oh, hey! New person! Hello, new person! Yeah . . . it's pretty quiet around here. And it has been for years, which is sad.

It's a funny thing, time and its effects on us all. In a way, we were like the Last Great Generation of Elves. Those who came before us slowly spent less time in the Underground, but there remained an energy of activity and life as newcomers took over. Until, at last, as our generation grew older and held firm, no new reinforcements came. And now, here we sit, maintaining our Long Vigil, awaiting with feeble hope a day when new Elves may once again bring life to these halls.
*Creakily looks up and takes a long, rattling breath* Ahhhhhh... Welcome, traveler, to these long-protected halls. Seek you shelter in these sacred walls? Counsel? Or perhaps simply a place to rest... Come. Sit. Warm yourself, awhile, beside the eternal flame over which we keep watch.

I'm sorry, Dmitri. Melodrama is a part of me. I cannot deny who I am.
That said, how are you? How's life these days, crises notwithstanding?

I will second Dmitri's statement. Though, I suppose that narratively speaking, the elven communities always do seem to pass away in the end . . .

Did I ever mention that I made a short film back in February? Technically the principal photography occurred in late January and it was published in early March, but most of the process was in February.

Nah, it was probably me. It was back in early March. I'm probably going out to Ohio to do another project in a few weeks. I have no idea what it is though lol

Yeah. I see Lylyss's posts every so often on Facebook. (At least, I'm pretty sure they're Lylyss. But they're mostly history memes and stuff about her dad's movie, so yeah.) And we were trying to revive CaC2 on FB as well for a bit, though that kind of died. I miss lots of people, TBH. And I miss roleplaying — sure, I have D&D now, and I love it, but I miss the stories we wrote together on here. But people have moved on, and it is what it is.

I miss those things, too. Even though it was hard for me to keep up, I enjoyed watching the adventures you guys were having.

I miss all the writing related stuff I used to do here that wasn’t actually writing what I was working on. XD I recently started up and RP and Character conversation with my friend, and it’s been a lot of fun. But it also brings back a lot of memories.

Haha, yeah. I've actually met Nightblade in person a half-dozen times.
@idk: LOL, true. Being able to write things without them being actual books was nice. I feel like it actually helped the rest of my writing, TBH.

Dmitri Pendragon I have found surpassing delights, tender sorrows, nights of questions, good food, and the cheer of friends who know me and whom I know. Of storytelling there has been struggles and victories, but the victory remains in the faithfulness and not in the moment. I am blessed also to work my hands in a field of employment that is growing me in leadership and good thinking and right desire.

Leilani Sunblade *shrugs* It's kinda how life is at the moment. Might do something else exciting instead, if I manage to get my student allowance to continue over summer it means I won't have to be in town for a job, so I might just tent out on my brother-in-law's farm instead, and maybe for the start of semester next year as well, until it starts to get cold, would save me a lot on rent and I think it would be rather fun, maybe make up for not being able to travel this year either. Ok, I'm not an expert on kiwi slang, so clarify for me — when you say "tent out", do you mean camping? Or do you mean just stay at that place? Because either way, cool, but if you actually intend to do camping all summer and part of the fall, I'm kind of both terrified and in awe.

Leilani Sunblade I do indeed mean camping. They're predicting another dry summer, so it's not likely that I'll have to be too concerned about becoming a sodden rat until late March (unfortunately for all the farmers. This past summer was the driest on the farm since the 50s and was then followed by a very dry winter). The biggest hassle of it all that I can currently see, is decluttering and/or sorting out storage for my stuff in the meantime.

Glade We should probably move over here too, although it's been so long I don't remember how to do Leilani's fancy trick. That's nice that you found a good home for her, it definitely sounds like an ideal place for a dog. At this point, were I in your position I would definitely be feeding my human antihistamines or rehoming him rather than ever rehoming Queen, I'm definitely keeping her until the day she dies, she is my first and true love

Thanks for moving your convo with Glade over here. For the record: you hit the Quote button, then in the reply editor, you select "BB Code" at the bottom tab. You copy the text, then open a reply on the new thread and paste the text in. Then you can switch back to the normal editor. Boom.
Also, you are going to be camping for multiple months, and I'm just like . . . bowing before your superior resilience or something. I could not do that. But I'm glad you would enjoy it. Do you have/would borrow some kind of camper thing or would you just be in a tent the whole time?

If I do it, I'll be in a tent the whole time. See it doesn't seem like a huge deal for me, because I don't actually sleep on a bed normally anyway (just a couple foam camping mats), and I get way too hot in summer and sleep with all windows possible open, so a tent under some trees which actually has fly netting so I can be open without being bitten sounds wonderful to me. And then waking up with the sounds of all the birds in the bush, it all seems ideal to me. And the spot I have in mind I can just wander to my sister's house to use toilet facilities, and a shower...although I like the idea of washing in the cold, fresh stream ...my sister has said that my idea of fun sounds like her idea of impoverishment. I'd also love to just live in a van for a while.

Ok, given what you said, I see why you'd be more comfortable with long-term tent camping. I'm still kinda with your sister on this, but I'm glad you find it appealing. I'm sure you'll have fun. xD Do you have a camp stove for food-making, or are you planning to go all the way and cook everything over a fire?

|
Post by Starsinger on Oct 7, 2020 17:56:49 GMT
I’d love to cook over a fire, but given the predictions for the summer, I’m guessing we’ll have another totally fire ban for the region, and probably most of NZ.
