Hullo, all! As I mentioned on the chat thread earlier this week (or last week? I can't remember), Katrina and I did a month long word war during December and January. Since it helped motivate both of us to write, we decided to do another one in February, and also decided to see if anyone else wanted to join in. Since people did, we're making a thread for it (and for any other similar events that may or may not happen).
The immediate challenge will start on February 1 and continue to the end of the month. Every day, or every few days, those participating can post how much they've written in that month. The person who has the most at the end of the month gets bragging rights.

Like -600. Editing. It's been a while since I worked on this and I needed to ease back into it.

This word war might have been the worst thing that ever happened to the Underground revival moment x)

I can't speak for anyone else, but this word war isn't cutting into my UG time. Reading time, maybe. UG time? No. And I don't think this word war is keeping Katrina off either- I'm not going into details, but she's been struggling with college stuff. I know Liessa is busy with college as well. Of those particpating, that leaves you and Dmitri. I don't know where Dmitri is. And you're the one talking.

February 8th. Total word count: 4036 words. Still.
Nah. Hasn't been the MLWW that's kept me. Saturday I volunteered at a Waitangi Day picnic, which kept me until teatime…and then in the evening I read The Bands of Mourning. Sunday I refrain. Mondays are busy for me, especially these ones where I have a speech club meeting in the evening.
I'll get round to the RP threads tomorrow. Too late today.

You got Bands of Mourning. Aaaarrrggghhhh. Was it good? I'm impatiently waiting for my library system to realize that I requested the book two storming weeks ago so they can take one of their three available copies and send it to my library. Grrr . . .
Also: official wordcount as of February 8th: 3,916. I'm catching up to you, Dmitri . . .

I'm close to 3000 now! But I also compulsively edited all of it...does that mean it can count as double words maybe?

NightBlade: Congrats on almost-3K! I'm going to say that editing what you just wrote doesn't count as double words, but others can outvote me on that if they like. Aviar Goldeneagle Goldeneagle: You're welcome to join!

February 9th. Total word count: 5729. Leilani Sunblade: The Bands of Mourning surpassed my expectations. I read until 11:15 to finish the book in one sitting. Wax, Wayne, Steris, Marasi and MeLaan were better than ever. The new revelations blew my mind and left me eagerly waiting for The Lost Metal. At the reveal in the final paragraph I leapt up in surprise and delight. You need to read this book, Leilani. And technically that would be two rusting weeks, not two storming weeks. We're talking Scadrial here, not Roshar. NightBlade: I don't write straight. I write, think, delete, and rewrite until I can move on with the scene. I don't count those words I discarded…I don't think editing should count either. Of course, if you completely rewrite your 3000 words that would probably count as another 3K.

Lol. Then I want the three thousand words I cut. D:
And my count is now 1000-ish. (Or -2000 give or take.)

Current count: 4,108 words. Yesterday was not a productive day. Dmitri Pendragon: Wow. That's quite the recommendation. Now I'm wishing even harder that my library would get itself together . . . And I'm aware that it would be rusting, not storming, but I prefer to use the latter. It flows better, at least to my mind, and carries a different connotation.

I wrote like 500 more words and read another book...freakin school. If I could have just HALF of the words I read to my writing count I would have finished my entire story by now...
