Kayma spread her empty left hand out, a look of scornful disbelief--and then she started to laugh, almost doubling over for a second. "So-hahaha-so out it comes! You finally admit yourself to be at our level? This--this is rich!" At the sudden attack that sent Kara flying back, Kayma's manner completely reversed and she screamed an enraged series of profane Mandalorian insults at her companion's incompetence. Turning back to Thorn, she snarled and swung her beskad, accompanied by a flaring gout of flame...mere seconds after Thorn's attack and Draejan's detonator exploded at precisely the same time.

Dexus peeked over Aza's shoulder and read the message. He nodded slowly and smirked. Stealing a ship...how hard can it be?

A medical droid in the StarBlade looked at Alessa. Turning to the bounty hunters, he said, "The wound is beyond my level of expertise. I can't heal a destroyed vein. Your only hope is to take her to a Jedi and get them to heal her, but I don't think you would be able to get there in time. She is minutes from passing into Chaos."

As his blast took effect on Kara, Thorn darted backwards and slammed the formerly dormant manhole cover on top of the bomb, blowing the round shield into a plume of metal fragments, which he cast at Kayma and Draejan. His durasteel armour protected him from the worst of the fire, and he blasted a powerful Force push outwards to turn the flame back on the two standing bounty hunters. As a thousand shards of stone and metal rose from the ground to levitate, Thorn extended a clenched hand and pressed Kara’s neck in a Force Choke, not enough to halt her breathing, and spoke to Kayma and Draejan. “In my hand I hold Werda’s life. If you continue to resist me, I will kill her. You are free to go, but do not seek me out again.”
((Heh. Wookiee, I think we posted at the same time.))

EDIT: ((Gah, Dmitri, stop posting when I post!!))
Kara clawed at the invisible hand around her throat, fear clouding her vision for the first time during the brawl. "K-Kayma..." She gasped. "R-Run..."

Kayma stood for an eternal three or four seconds, chest heaving. Arms and hands quivering with enough rage to unleash the very contents of Chaos itself upon the Jedi. She pointed the quivering blade of her beskad. "Go--hettir n haran, hut'uunla dar'jetii. I'm better than you ever were, and I'm saving my friend, ordinii she may be." She paused, then added, "In Chaos when your Jetii powers and cowardice can't save you...I will have vengeance on you. One hundred thousand times. On you, and everyone you ever loved--this life and the next." With that, she spewed another sweeping cloud of blue flame, forcing the Jedi to divert his Force powers while she ran to aid Kara.

((NightBlade, that first part won't make sense to those who haven't read our PM conversation.))
Stone and gravel collapsed as Thorn launched a Force push to divert the fire. Within seconds, he, the glow of his lightsaber, and Squall had vanished.

(Well yeah, you guys on the PM are the only ones this battle involves...but whatever I'll edit it out)
Kayma ran to kneel by Kara's side. "Get up! Get up, you..7$-$-$+!." She hollered with several scorching curses.

Kara gasped for breath, trying to push herself up. "I-I'm sorry, I'm s-sorry." She stammered. "I c-couldn't take it all. Kayma, I'm s-so sorry." Kara didn't have to look to see that Squall and Thorn were gone, and that sent mixed messages to her brain. She wanted Squall to be alive, she really did... Only so she could kill him herself.

Pain. Step. Pain. Step. Pain.
Thorn closed his eyes as he blurred through the streets. His leg was definitely broken, and after this run it would be worse—weeks of healing and recovery. He shifted the burden of Stormborn's limp form to ease the ache in his arms. But he would have sacrificed himself to save this Padawan's life. It was the Jedi way, the Jedi Code, a path emblazoned on his soul. A path no Mandalorian insult would ever remove from him.
Unbidden, memories rose in Thorn's mind. His Master, Enan Deuel, proud and tall, both green lightsabers flaring against a rage of laser blasts that would eventually take his life—and save Thorn's in the process. His Padawan, Leanne Rosh, lying pale and incoherent in the mud, her face scorched, her beautiful green eyes that would never see again. His family, the family he had met only once, through dire need and coincidence—when his family had taken in a young Jedi Knight dragging himself through the cold, cold rain and endless fields of mud, bleeding and broken after his fall from Yssene's cliffs. Only then had they discovered that he, Thorn, was the child they had given up years ago. And then, when the pursuing Mandalorians discovered them, their cold-hearted massacre of the entire family, who died to save the wounded young man they had tended and hidden. His utter inability to do anything about it. That was what hurt the most.
If he had been quicker, more skilled, more attuned to the Force, would he have been able to save any of them?
He looked down at the young Padawan in his arms. Stormborn's scorched face stabbed another dagger of memory through his heart. Leanne had looked the same when the Mandalorians took her away. But this time, he had succeeded. He had saved a Jedi who depended on him for very life. And that single success gave him the strength to keep going.
Mandalore had torn from him everything he had ever loved. But, by Heaven's grace, he would continue to love.

Draejan stood up from where he had been kneeling and pounding any immediate rubble to dust, all the while spewing a long string of (fortunately)indiscernable words. He saw a bug crawling on the wall, grabbed his array gun and blasted the helpless insect into a small crater on the alley wall. "That could've been you, 'Jedi'," he growled. Finally making his way over to Kayma and Kara, he simply asked,"you okay?", barely concealing his anger.

Kara couldn't decide whether to nod or to shake her head at Draejan's question. So she just sat there, waiting for Kayma to chew her out.

(Just to remind you, Dmitri, that the character of neither Mandalorians nor the Jedi are add black and white as you may be thinking.")
"You--" Completely speechless with rage, Kayma stomped down her foot, spun on her heel and paced in several tight circles, cursing under her breath and lashing out with her sword at anything in sight. "...'fek my honor, 'fek my father,'fek the jetii..." She spun around and paced in a different direction. "...every single person he ever knew, piece by piece..." Suddenly she swore again, much louder this time, as a security speeder screeched to a halt at the end of the alley and several officers leapt off. "What's happened here!" They demanded, weapons at the ready. For a moment, Kayma was stunned silent. Then she blurted, "Jetii! A jetii attacked us, and ran that way! That way!" She pointed. For a few seconds, the officers looked at each other and hesitated. Then two of them took the speeder and headed in the Jedi's wake, while the other two stayed with Kayma and the others.
(Well so much for this ending with a vacation and Kayma getting happy. Great! Now I've got another Javez-complex character)

Kara looked up at the new arrivals with a blank expression, silently refusing to stand up in their presence. She didn't know what to do, what to say, what to think. Her mind was like a fog.

Elius sighed and rested his chin on his hand. “So the mentor is fallen, and the maiden, the apprentice, and the ally will now attempt to kill the dark wizard. I think I’ve heard stories like this before. Although this one will get a nice, unique ending, where the dark wizard wins.” ––––– Samuel inhaled deeply through his nose and nodded in response to Ver’s glance. “I am ready, yes.” He jerked. “You didn’t say that…you thought it. Not even to me.” Io’Nahsé merely blinked, and raised his shoto. “You’ve forgotten someone, Elius.” Valene strode into the chamber, her lightsaber ignited. “The dark wizard’s relative.” Samuel stared at her. The tips of his lightsabers quivered. “What are you doing here?” Valene made an obvious attempt to smile. “If you’re going to die, Samuel Jyngar*, I’m going to die right alongside you.” She raised her blade. “He may be my father, but I lost my father a long time ago. Since he thinks so low of me, I will show him that an eagle of light is well capable of snuffing out the life of a dark rat.” Samuel took a deep breath and held it, keeping her gaze. “When we survive this, Valene Imarien, I would like to get to know you better.” She nodded, and truly smiled this time. “To that, I agree.” The young Imarien Protector turned to Ver and dipped her head. “Master Damere, may I join you? I have sufficient reason to wish this snake’s downfall.” ((*JIN-jar, not JIN-gar.)) ((Sorry for taking so long to respond.)) Ver considered Valene's request for only a moment before nodding. "I am certain you do. Your aid will be welcome." And who knows? Perhaps her presence will give Elius some doubts of his own. That was unlikely, yes- but not impossible. She turned to face Elius once more and started a slow, purposeful advance. "I'm afraid this story may not end like you hope. I'd give you a final chance to surrender, but somehow I doubt you'll take it."

Kayma paced around in circles for a good five minutes, muttering all sorts of disturbing things, before she calmed down. She sat down and sighed. "We need to find that Jedi. And we'l be prepared this time to kick his shebs." She glanced at Kara and took a few more deep breaths, the flames dying down in her eyes. "Well...for what it's worth...thanks for not leaving." ----- As the StarBlade entered the atmosphere of Mandalore, Javez immediately spotted rising smoke in two areas, not too far apart. "What the shab?" ( Dmitri Pendragon I know we're past this part now, but I just need to point out that the grenade evasion was a very unfair move considering the timing of the event. Like I said it's behind us now, but don't give fledgling RPers that kind of crap OK? And we still need to plan a conclusion of this whole ordeal)

"I could say the same thing..." Kara murmured, still hesitant to meet Kayma's eye. She had messed up- messed up bad. There were a billion things she should've done, but she hadn't. "What do we do now?" She asked quietly. ---------- Squall was aware of movement. Someone was moving near him- no, someone was moving him. Where was he? What had happened? Why couldn't he see? When he spoke, his throat felt extremely dry, and it took him a while to form words. "M-Master Thorn...?"
