Greetings, Elves! I really liked this thread on the old UG, so I thought it would be fun to bring it back into use here. For those who either don't remember or didn't use the old one, this is were you can share the nightly dreams that stand out to you. Nightmares, Sweet Dreams, and anything in between. It doesn't matter if you had them last night, last week, or even years ago; if it's worth sharing, post it here! (Just a note, if your dreams have severely violent or otherwise objectionable content, it's probably best to keep your descriptions suitable for our younger users. We know you can't help the subject matter of your dreams, so no worries there. Just to be mindful of those sensitive younglings. * * * While I'm at it, I might as well start things off with one of my recent dreams. A few nights ago, I dreamed that I was involved in some sort of athletic/cognitive contest. I'm really sketchy on the details since outside of the dreamworld, it doesn't make much sense. But anyway, after I won, I was taken in for a tour of the Company that sponsored the event. I met the new owner of the Company who had just inherited it from his grandfather. I can't remember if he had a name, but I'll call him Jesse Alderman, and the company will be called Tomorrow Inc. After a handshake and a congratulations from Alderman, my tour guides led me further into the complex. Something didn't seem right to me, and I suddenly realized that they wouldn't let me leave. Some of my (fictional) family were waiting, and I was worried for them. I managed to warn them to leave the premises somehow, telling them that I would meet them at the car. But when I tried t escape, the tour guides (now my captors) pulled me further and further down the white hallways until I knew I couldn't find my way out. The next thing I knew, I was thrown into a cell with some other young people who had entered similar competitions and won. We were being held and experimented on. Apparently, the contest we had entered determined whether we had a special genetic ingredient that Tomorrow Inc. needed to complete a super-soldier program. Somehow, working together, me and the other prisoners managed to get out, but only three of us made it out alive. We raced through the complex, searching for a way to escape. We made our way down into the large drainpipes beneath the complex, but even there the exits were grated off and we were trapped. We set up a temporary camp in the sewers, and noticed strange sounds that sounded like they were coming from below us.
One of the other escapees and and I decided to find out what was really going on in Tomorrow Inc., so we snuck back up into the upper levels of the complex and confronted Jesse Alderman, intending to use him as leverage to get out. However, Alderman seemed surprised by our presence and apparently totally unaware of his company's dark deeds. Upon seeing our story confirmed, he insisted on coming with us to uncover the truth. Together, we all raced through the underbelly of the complex, getting closer and closer to our goal. At first, it seemed like Alderman's presence might hinder us due to his rich and sheltered upbringing, but he turned out to be a loyal and useful ally. He saved my life more than once.
Finally, we discovered a secret lab underneath the sewers, and after a shoot out we tried to get back to the surface with enough evidence to shut down the wicked operations taking place there. But before we had a chance to reach the top, I started to wake up against my will. The last thing I remember, I was reaching for Jesse's hand as he dangled from some kind of precipice, and our main antagonist (his former assistant) pointed a gun in our direction...

Oh dear. Talk about a cliff hanger! It's like Howard Stark became the evil mastermind if the Zootopia plot!
Ok so in my dream just last night, I suddenly "awoke" in a hospital bed with some sort of IV stuck in my chest that was attempting to take a blood sample. I was allowed to get up and go, but the little IV kept falling out as I walked around so I had to keep sticking the little bugger back in. As I was roaming about the hospital doing various nonsensical dream type things, there was this random girl that was hitting on me and she gave me ice cream xD then I left the hospital and found myself in some other building that somehow served as home, though there were lots of random people there. One of which was a supervisor from work, who was in a high bad temper as I tried to sneak past him to the bathroom. The, er, facilities had spaceship seatbelts that you were required to engage xD and then as I went upstairs, I started petting a friendly black lab . Then all of a sudden I "woke up" in the same hospital again, and this time with a big ol dog bite stitched closed on my arm. Oh, and the ice cream girl was there again. Unfortunately I was awoken for real by my 5:00 alarm for work :/

NightBlade : What a bizarre dream! Kind of humorous too. XD Kirenyth Fireblade: I know, right? I thought the same thing. Funny detail- Jesse Alderman looked a lot like a real-life version of Alistair Cray from Big Hero 6.

Elethia Arvell Those cliffhangers! :/ NightBlade You have to get up at 5 for work?? I'm surprised your brain lets you have dreams at all. Last night I had the good fortune of having a swashbuckling dream. It was sort of a Pirates of the Caribbean set in a mid 1800s, slightly steampunk world, starring yours truly. I think I started out on the deck of a flat ironclad at night with a few eerie torches, and we were pirates approaching a luxury paddle steamer at sea. As we neared it we started firing, but then I got shot and killed. The next moment I was "respawned" on another ironclad as we boarded the paddle steamer and took control (at which point it became a warship more like a classic 1700s pirate ship with about three rows of guns). Then another large warship attacked and we outmaneuvered and destroyed it after an intense fight that I don't remember much of, except that I chased the enemy captain off our ship. That other ship somehow ended up crashed against a rock that stuck up from the sea (as we began entering a river). Its masts were totally blown off. We were about to continue on our way, when a wooden, steam warship stormed out of nowhere and started blowing us up, then the other ship we thought was immobilized apparently had a partial crew, so they tied a rope to our bow so that they could keep following us wherever we went. It was at this point that my vision became unattached from my body (or else I was floating into the sky). Then somebody knocked at our door and that woke me up.

Ooh! A swashbuckling dream! Those are fun. It's been a long time since I've had one of those. Interesting that you mention how your vision became detatched from your body. That happens to me in my dreams all the time. I think it come of being a writer. I get so used to thinking in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person that in my dreams I can hop perspectives, from myself, to the antagonist, to the supporting characters, and finally to that pineapple on the table. Sometimes it's a floating view, like you describe.

The last dream I had was trippy. I can only explain it like this:
First, I actually woke up. Due to it being early, I hunker down under the blanket. Then I apparently doze off, then hear my alarm. I get up, get dressed, and I'm about to grab my phone when...my alarm goes off. My only alarm. I had dreamed that my alarm had gone off and woken up thinking it was real.

WookieeElf: Oh my goodness, that's happened to me too! Once, I got up at 6 am, had breakfast, got dressed, and went to work. I had been at work for about a half an hour and was beginning to clean the rooms, when all of a sudden my mom burst through the door of my bedroom and said, "Don't you have to go to work?" I was fifteen minutes late to work that morning, all because my alarm clock hadn't gone off and my dream fooled me into thinking I had nothing to worry about. Aviar Goldeneagle Goldeneagle: Yes! I was actually talking about that in my last post. My perspective flips throughout my dream. I (myself) can be trying to topple the evil empire, while I (the evil emperor) can be ordering my troops to stop me (myself). As the evil emperor, I'll lounge in my throne and glower darkly down at the rebel warrior that is actually me as I appear in real life. We can even have conversations!

That's awesome. I seem stuck in first-person the whole time though... Speaking of which, a few months ago I had a dream that I was going on a mission trip to LA. We stopped at a Walmart to get some supplies and I remember getting lost in the store (I become lost or disoriented in almost all of my dreams). At that point I realized I was dreaming, and I became semi-lucid, at least enough to manipulate my dream. Anyway, Lon story short I teamed up with my friends to take out Rumpelstiltsken in an epic music battle!!! xP But I did find out that the LOTR soundtracks sound really cool when played on guitar... My dreams are usually all over the place

Kirenyth Fireblade: The last part of that dream sounds like it was really cool! Rumpelstiltskin from 'Once Upon a Time', I take it? @leilani: That's odd! The American equivalent of Hogwarts would be pretty fun to see, actually. I understand we're going to in the new movie that's coming out. I don't care for the movies as much as I do the books, though. The movies make everything seem so much darker.

Elethia Arvell: Yup. I only say the American equivalent, though, because I was there for actual classes and such, and so were people I know, and we're all Americans, so . . . yeah. Also it didn't look like the pictures I've seen of the place, but then again, places in dreams don't often look like where they are.

Okay! I've got a little time now, so I'll write down that dream I mentioned.
I may or may not have posted this dream before. If I have, my apologies. If not, prepare for a very strange and un-explainable oddity..
* * *
As I mentioned in my above posts, I often switch perspectives throughout my dreams. I can play both male and female parts, thinking from each person's mindset, while still retaining the knowledge of me, my original self. I never forget who I am, though I can experience the thoughts and emotions of whichever character I'm playing.
In this dream, I was the King of the Fair Folk. I was tall and handsome, with long elven-like black hair and a sweeping scarlet robe. My realm was hidden in the woodlands, and filled with graceful wooden palaces, magical pools, and all manners of strange creaures. My people and I were beautiful, though we were also quite dangerous. Mischievous and temperamental, we were not by any means to be trusted. If I felt like it, I would turn a harmless trespasser into stone, or entrance them so that they would be forever lost. On the other hand, if the mood took me, I could be very kind and helpful. As long as it would make me happy for a brief time, I would do it. Of course, in my mind, I was always the hero. A dashing, magical monarch like me could do no wrong, could I?
At some point in my dream, some of my scouts informed me that a group of humans had infiltrated my domain. Displeased that they would be so insolent, I sent my hunters out to capture the unfortunate mortals. The humans tried in vain to run, but we separated them and I managed to capture one of the young men with them. I promptly threw him into prison to use as bait for the rest. A young girl, whom I believed to be in love with the man I had captured, came willingly to my palace to plead for his freedom. I teased and antagonized her, toying with her emotions just to see the look on her face. But something in me felt guilty, and I began to pity her. So instead of transforming her into a dove, or a swan, I told her that if she could find her companion in my vast palace before sunrise, she and her friends could all go free. Afterward, I followed her secretly and transformed into various animals or people to interact with her. Sometimes I offered advice, and other times I got in her way. I think in the end, though she found her lover and I let them go.
Now for weird part.
My sister Aarathyn had a dream that night as well. In her dream, she and her friends, including a recurring dream character whom I shall call Ellis, were on a quest. While traveling through a forest, Ellis was captured and Aarathyn was desperate to find him again. She tracked him down to the Fairy Palace, where she had to beg for his life from- you guessed it- a tall, dark-haired, scarlet clad king with an attitude. I was the antagonist of her dream!! The rest of her dream basically followed the plot of mine, but then deviated afterward as her dream and mine changed. It wasn't until the next morning, on Easter Sunday, when we both recounted our dreams and discovered the freakish coincidence. I, of course, apologized for capturing Ellis and giving Aarathyn a hard time. The only explanation we've come up with is that we're sisters and must have some kind of odd family link. 0_0

I had a somewhat creepy dream a while back where it felt like I awoke in a video game, like yknow how you feel when you're just panning around looking at your surroundings and nothing's really happening. It was like a bright sunny field, everything was all pretty and green, but I heard something so I turned around and saw a big purple fire burning on the ground that covered a large portion of ground and scrubs but wasnt spreading, just spitting up thick black smoke. And all around the fire were stakes in the ground, with charred skulls stuck on them. Whichever skull I looked at would be staring back and laughing with weird, creepy echoing voices that seemed to be coming from nowhere.
