Hey'a, y'all. This is my writing thread, and I'll be posting stuff I wrote on here(no, duh). I'm slightly angry that the Underground crashed not long after I FINALLY organized my thread, but all that aside, I'm happy to be here. To those who do not know me: I'm Ryebrynn, though a lot of the time I go by Lady Lessien. I've been an Undergrounder for four years(I joined January 20th, 2011), and it is my pleasure to join y'all here. I'm also an OYANer, and I love to read and write. Let the madness begin.

Hey y'all! I figure it's time to come out in the open about my works in progress. I'm branching out in genres and working on a contemporary romance. It's about a young woman named Elise whose mother ships her to a boarding school in Canada and then elopes with someone. (wow, that makes it sound terrible) Hold on, I might have a synopsis sitting around somewhere....
Elise Worthington is a normal girl. She marathons YouTube videos when she's upset, and spends hours on the phone with her best friend. She's always lived a few minutes out of Manhattan, Kansas. That is, until her mother flips her reality onto it's backside. Elise has to leave her home to go to a boarding school in Hazel, Ontario. That's right—Canada. But there is something more afoot in this swift decision than Elise originally imagined. As soon as Elise is out of the picture, her mother elopes with a Spanish dude. Elise is stranded in Canada, with her only contact living in Thunder Bay. Elise leaves the boarding school, hoping to find her mother. She runs into a boy, literally, and dumps her coffee everywhere. That's just the start, though. Joshua manages to convince Elise not to go. Elise isn't done, however. She still needs her mother, so she enlists her roommates Cait and Melody to search the Web for any sign of her mother—and a way to reach her. But finding her mother will unearth a realm of secrets Elise can't even begin to fathom. And they all lead to murder.
Aha! See? Much better. I'm also working on my OYAN novel, which is about a girl named Brennan who accidentally kidnaps the prince of England. However, it is still in the works, and I have only written a synopsis for it, because it is for school. There will be no romance in it. Oh, and here's the synopsis for that:
It takes talent. Really, it does. I can't believe that the president expects me not to get noticed while I'm stealing the best-kept secret of both the States and Britain. I have talent in copious amounts. It was dumped on me when a was a kid. But seriously. Cameron expects far too much of me. But me? I have to obey. Of course. And guess what? If I'm discovered, it will be grounds for war. And we really do not need war. My mission actually went really, really well. Except for one teeny-tiny problem. My name is Brennan Maynard, and I accidentally kidnapped the prince of England.
That is also just a rough draft, so please don't judge. I'm also working on my NaNoWriMo novel from November, which is a pirate story with some romance as well. I do not have a synopsis written for this. And I'm working out the plot for the last Chronicles of Alleure book, but I might change the WHOLE direction of the series and edit out the allegory completely(mostly because lots of allegories back-fire, and I don't want to ruin my series). No synopsis, sorry. Anyway, thanks for listening to my novel info-dump.
Hasta la vista, Lessien/Ryebrynn

Your OYAN novel sounds like it was heavily influenced by Ally Carter's books. Just sayin'. As for your first project, well, it doesn't sound like my thing, but I'm glad you're enjoying it. My only comment: if it's a contemporary romance, please be upfront about it in the descriptions. Your synopsis implies it's a mystery story, in my opinion, and it drives me a little crazy when a book claims to be a mystery/adventure/etc. and is really primarily a romance.

You make it sound like there's something terrible about Canada They look pretty interesting, especially the second one. I have nothing against Canada, I promise. Thanks! I might not end up writing the second one, though.

I actually might be writing something else for OYAN. It depends. Yes. I actually decided to cut out the murder stuff because it REALLY doesn't fit the idea of the story.

Okay, so some of you might not know that I have a passion for designing book covers. Since I don't have a ton of time to write, I thought it would be fun to share my covers with y'all. What do you guys think?

Does this sound like something any of you would like to read?
Athena Tiberius is one of five daughters. Her lineage is a bloodthirsty one. Murder is how one wins the throne, and if she lives to see her eighteenth birthday she will win it. Her sisters are determined not to see that happen. The land of Isildris is cracking at the core. Magicians, cursed at birth with disabilities and magic, are forced to fight in the Arena, in bloodthirsty battles to the death. Isildris is in desperate need of a leader with the talents to bring peace and equality to its people. The emperor's daughters do not suit it well. Titurius is cursed with being paralyzed in his left arm. He's blessed with telekinetics. Titus and Athena were never supposed to meet, but when she flees, sick from the Arena, they do. Theirs is an unlikely alliance, both of them completely different but in need of a friend, someone to trust in their bloodthirsty country. But as the year closes in on Athena's eighteenth birthday, one bad move could mean her death. And the price for fraternizing with a gladiator is high. Set in a rich fantasy world steeped in the mythology and infrastructure of ancient Rome, this unlikely friendship burns bright in a time when no one is to be trusted.

Probably. As long as romance doesn't overwhelm the plot, I'd most likely read it.

Okay, so I blog a lot about books and reading, and I review a bunch of upcoming releases, and I really want to join this blogging program called BookLook Bloggers. However, to do so, I must have 30 followers or more. Right now I have 23. So would y'all be willing to follow my blog (with a blogger account, not by email), so I can get the last 7 followers? Thank you!! My blog: ryebrynnsrandomrambling.blogspot.com/
