"You enjoy bossing us around, don't you?" Sam asked his Vala, who shrugged absently. "It feels good." Was her reply. Sam rolled his eyes and moved off, so he didn't see the playful grin on Vala's face.

Liam turned the meat over so it didn't burn on one side, but still would get warm all the way through. "When do you think Ze'yer will arrive?"

Vala thought a moment, setting down her knife. "He said it would take a while...hopefully, he'll be here today."

(It might just be me, but I don't like the way Ze'yer said "put you back on your path"... :/ )
Milon and Abia woke to the smell of food. Milon hopped up, looked at the sky, then glared at Abia. "What did you do?" Abia stretched and scratched his armpits. "What?" "You did something. I can feel it." "Then you'll just have to wait and find out now, won't you?" Abia chuckled in a somewhat maniacal fashion. Milon matched him, then trotted over towards the fire. He saw the sweet buns and it was obvious to everyone that he was trying not to drool. "Is there anything I can do?" he asked Vala. "I'd love to eat those, of course, but I'd feel like I'm cheating if I don't do something to help." "I won't," Abia called.

((I had the same feeling...*side-eyes Ze'yer*))
Vala looked up. "Good morning! If you two don't mind, maybe you could go refill the waterskins? I think Sam drained them last night." Sam made an offended noise, which Vala chose not to hear.

Milon snapped an exaggerated salute. “Yes ma’am!” He collected the waterskins and shook them a bit. One of them had a little water left in it. That one he tossed to Abia, who caught it—on his head. The open top of the waterskin admitted a trickle of water that slid down Abia’s shirt. He hopped up and down, then grimaced. “I already washed last week! You little…” Shaking the waterskin, Abia bolted after Milon, who was already running for the river.

[*realizes how long it's been since I've replied* Gaaaaahhhhhhhh...]
Milon and Abia returned, both soaked to the skin. Both of the waterskins were filled, however. Milon handed his to Vala with a flourish. Water droplets sprayed about, but very few of them landed on the lady. "We have returned, successful in our endeavor!" To Abia, he said, "Here, give me that. I don't trust you not to douse her." He held his hand out. Abia laughed and said something in a foreign tongue, then handed him the waterskin. Milon made a face. "I'm really glad I don't speak gypsy." Abia grinned, then dashed away singing something. Milon handed Vala the remaining waterskin. "And here is the last." He didn't notice it, but as he spoke, a few warts began to appear near his ears.

(( Merenwen Inglorion I am so sorry, I meant to reply when I saw this but I got so busy... Really sorry!)) Vala bit her lip, gingerly taking the skins. "Thank you, Milon, and you, too, Abia," she said, giving them a small smile. "Well...I think everything is ready, so go ahead and eat—but I need to see you all eat some fruit before you touch the sweet buns." She waved a stick at her companions for added effect.

"Playing at being mother, Miss Vala?" Liam asked teasingly. He helped himself to some of the fruit and meat and settled to a more comfortable position. "When do you think Ze'yer will arrive?

Her cheeks turning red, Vala sat down next to Sam. "No, I just don't want your energy to run out later when we're moving again," she replied, then smacked Sam's arm as he tried to reach for a bun. "Fruit." "Yes, Mum." Sam muttered, taking a few slices of apple from her.

(( NightBlade: What? Ze'yer? Yes, that is.)) "No fear of that, Miss Vala." Liam, having finished off some of his fruit, eyed the buns. "Might I have one now, or are you going to smack me as well if I try?"

(( NightBlade : Sorry?)) "Thank you." Liam took one of the buns and bit into it, enjoying the sweetness. When he'd finished, he repeated his question: "When do you think Master Ze'yer will arrive? Did he give any indication last night?"

((Ze'yer said he was going to 'right their path'...what that means, I don't know.))
Vala looked around at the surrounding trees. It seemed less scary in the sunlight. "I am not entirely sure," she replied. "He said today, but I don't know when."

((I honestly just assumed he meant he was going to get them back on track to the Northlands . . .))
"Ah, well." Liam had hoped for a more particular time. "I would rather not lose an entire day waiting for him, particularly not if the sorcerer is still n earby . . . We will give him 'til noon to arrive, then continue at an easy pace. If that is acceptable to all?"

(Exactly. But judging from all that has(n't) been happening, I feel like I need to put more planning into this to make it an actual plot. Which will probably involve minimizing Caedmon and taking more "NPC" roles)

((Ah. Sorry . . . my plan was to just let them go along with a few random encounters and probably several timeskips until they reached the northlands, where I had some plot stuff sort of planned out. But I could try and think of some more plot-ish things to happen en route, if that helps.))

((I had a small plan for the bandits who were going north (Leilani we talked about it before?) and I also have stuffs for the sorcerer dude. And don't minimize Caedmon too much, I like him))
Sam nodded, grinning as he finally grabbed a sweet bun. "I'm alright with that plan." "I am, too," Vala added.

(( WookieeElf: S'alright. Totally understandable. I've been a bit busy myself... )) Milon and Abia sat down. Abia tried to nab a sweet bun before the fruit, but noted the smacks Vala gave the others. He doubted she could hit as hard as his mother, but he decided to play safe. Milon juggled several small apples before eating them. Both Milon and Abia made it obvious that they were eating the fruit--loud crunching noises, smacks of the lip--then took a sweet bun apiece.

(( Merenwen Inglorion Once again, I apologize. I will do my best to stop my absence on here.)) Vala only ate a little, her anxiety from the night before still present in her body. To keep herself from thinking about what happened, she made herself busy by tending the fire, then starting to clean up the remaining food when everyone was finished.

(( WookieeElf: It's alright. )) ((*realizes terrible timing and social skilz* Um, I'm going to be offline until the 28th or so...camping!)) Milon nudged Abia. "What tricks do you have up your sleeves today?" Abia shrugged. "Oh, I don't know." He stood and made a show of stretching his arms out and adjusting his frayed shirt sleeves. During one pass, he produced a small bouquet of flowers. Abia looked to Milon. "You?" Milon held his arms up over his head, looked beneath them, patted his tunic, and pinched the fabric. "Hmm, nothing here." He peeked inside his boot and shouted. With a quick twist and a fling, a grass snake landed a few feet away. "There's that. Ooh, and this." He stood, running his hands over his arms. When he finished, several small bees spun about and landed on Abia's flowers. Abia raised his eyebrows. "You're working with insects now?" "Since I met you, I have." "Oh, really?!"
