((Awesomesauce.))
They reached the town about an hour later. Liam scanned the buildings lining the single main road until he spotted the inn, the only multi-story building in the town. He turned to Vala. "I will see to accommodations for us and Mistress Reyna at the inn. Do you believe Mistress Reyna to be in need of a healer?" ----- Kenneth shook his head. "Not merely a storm, I do not think, but we would do well to look for shelter nonetheless."

Vala cradled the sleeping Alithea closer, pursing her lips. "It would be best for the both of them to be seen by a healer." She said quietly. "But we should let Miss Reyna decide."

((Okay, I think I finally have a little time to do a quick post; I'll probably have to edit In the charrie profile later)
Andaar the innkeeper was just heading out of the shop with some much-needed supplies for the inn, and was about to head over when he saw a group of travelers walking towards his inn. Slinging the sack of supplies over his sturdy shoulders, Andaar called over to the group. "Looking for a place to stay the night? I'm the keeper of this fine establishment, you won't find a better place in town to get some rest or a bite to eat!"
((Edit: here's the profile- -Name: Andaar (ON-dar) -Race, Gender, Age: Human; male; mid 30's -Appearance: Rather tall, almost 6ft., muscular, dark brown hair and short beard. -Armor/Clothing: Usually found wearing brown breecs, a green tunic, and a (once)white apron. -Weapons/Equipment: Any imagine-able kitchen utensil, keeps a large knife with him for dealing with thieves , angry patrons, etc.. -Personality: Can be stern when he needs to, but generally jovial and likable. Enjoys doing his job and cooking; secretly he has always dreamed of adventuring and slaying monsters. -History: Grew up in town; he started working at the inn to earn money for traveling, but liked it so much he took over the inn when the owner left.

Liam nodded and looked to Reyna. "What is your choice, Mistress?"
Reyna shook herself, as if she'd been half-asleep. "I . . . I believe I will be fine with rest . . . but Alithea . . . if it would not be too much trouble . . ."
Liam nodded again. "Say no more, Mistress." He turned back to Vala. "If you wish to find the town healer now, I will see to accommodations, or one of us can look after Mistress Reyna and her child are settled at the inn." He glanced towards Andaar. "Thank you, master innkeeper. I will be needing rooms at your establishment in a moment, indeed."

"The child is sleeping, and Miss Reyna is tired." Vala replied. "If you could take Alithea, Sir Liam, I can go find the healer now and report the fire to the town authorities."

Aristos frowned lightly. "There's only one inn?"

Liam held out an arm to take the child. "That will be well, Miss Vala." He nodded to Aristos. "'Tis a small town, Master Tristam. Are you surprised?"

Vala gently laid Alithea in Liam's arms, making sure not to wake her. "There. Now, I shall try and find the healer..." She looked over at Tristam and Mordecai. "If any of you wish to accompany me, I shall be grateful."

Aristos sighed. "Not surprised no. But that doesn't make me any happier about it. I can't think of any better way to be easily found than staying in the only inn in town." He turned to Vala. "I can come along as well. I'm in need of some new herbs if the healer here can spare them."

Vala offered him a smile. "Thank you, sir." Giving the others a quick nod in farewell, she started back down the road, walking slowly so Tristam could catch up. "I believe I saw a healer's shop just down this way..."

Aristos followed her. He nodded in response and then looked at the ground, trying to find a way to ask the question on his mind.

Vala noticed that Tristam seemed hesitant, and slowed her pace just slightly so she could walk next to him. "Is something the matter, sir?" She asked quietly. (( jliessa44: Probably should explain that Vala is going to call Aristos 'Tristam' until she (eventually) finds out his real name...))

((Makes sense.))
Aristos rubbed his chin. "Are you... Safe? The noble sir seems kind enough, but it's not common for it to be just a man and woman alone traveling. And if you're under duress..." He fell silent, thinking of the past.

"Oh." Vala's expression softened. "I thank you for your concern, Sir Tristam, and I assure you there is nothing wrong. Sir Liam and I...we are just friends. Nothing more, nothing less." Still, his question made her think, and she fell quiet as well.

(Is Ze'yer tracking the bad guy gonna turn into anything, or should he think better of it and come back?) As the light continued to dwindle rapidly, the only things moving were the restless tree branches and a swelling number of crows that were circling round and round overhead, cawing racously. " Die! Die! Die!" The rustling of the trees suddenly began to intensify, and thick branches cracked resoundingly. Then, from either side of the road up ahead lumbered a horrific monstrosity of bone and brown, muscular mass. The wet, guttural snarl that they emitted broke through the crows' frenzy. (Dang! How do you attach pictures on mobile?) Attachments:

Vala returned the smile. "I come from a small town just down the south road. A quaint little place, like this town. May I ask where you are from, Tristam?"

(( NightBlade: I'm going to PM you about that later, when I have more time. Meant to do it last night, but I got distracted by board games, editing, and studying. At the moment I'm just on for a few minutes between writing and editing. )) Liam took the babe carefully and headed over to the inn. He looped his horse's reins over the post out front, helped Reyna off, and headed inside, supporting her in her unsteady walk. ----- Linnea cried out in shock, darting backwards and pulling Mart with her. Kenneth raised his staff, though from the look of the creature, he wasn't sure how much good his weapon would do. Somehow he managed to keep his voice steady as he ordered: "Run, all of you. I'll hold the creature off as best I can."

(PM me about Ze'yer and running guy? K. Btw theres a quick scetch of the beast in my original post)
The two beasts began to lumber forward, and massive reaching claws extended towards them. The first drops of rain began to fall as the foliage by the path behind the travellers began to stir.

((Sorry for poofing, had chem. lab))
Andaar turned and headed towards the inn. "I'll be inside when your ready,"he replied, indicating the inn. He stopped for a moment and turned, " and you don't hafta worry about being safe here. Nothin's come up so far that me and my friend here," he patted his knife," couldn't handle." He turned again and went inside to prepare dinner for the other customers.

(( NightBlade: I saw.)) ((@miklul: Not a normal band of ruffians. I'll include you in the PM to Nightblade.)) Linnea glanced back. "Kenneth?" Her voice came out high and trembling. Kenneth took a warning swing at the beast. "I said run, Linnea." "There's something back here, though . . ." Linnea hesitated, uncertain whether to run or remain. She glanced at the others, hoping one of them would seem to have some idea of what to do. ----- Liam entered the inn and glanced around for any sign of the innkeeper. "Hello?"

Outfit: Green leggings, tunic and cloak, dark brown vest and leather boots. Dark green scarf usually wrapped around her face. Personality: Quiet, with brief moments of child-like innocence and gaiety. Armor: None. Weapons: A bow and a quiver full of arrows. Two thin knives just in case. History: TBD)) As the rain started to fall, light footsteps raced across the forest floor. With an oaken bow in one hand, and an arrow in the other, Syl ran towards where she had last heard the creatures. ------------ Vala nodded absently, her focus mainly on the shops as they walked by. "I shall take your word for it..." She stopped outside one shop. "This looks like the healer."
