jliessa44: I agree with IDK- her not having brought back anything actually useful would be reason enough for her to be considered still in debt. And I think you could make it 80K, depending what obstacles they come up against.

Thanks! I'm hoping it works. I've started outlining and it seems like it should last... Maybe.

So idk how much you guys use Evernote (or if you use it at all) but I absolutely love it. And with Nano happening, I thought maybe you guys could use this? Idk. I was super estatic to see it when I got an email this morning. Not all of their templates look super useful, but there are several I'm already using. blog.evernote.com/blog/2016/10/04/nanowrimo-novel-planning-templates/

What is Evernote? It sounds familiar . . . is it like OneNote? It's an app on just about every system. It is a lot like One Note, but better for me. It lets you tag things, create notebooks, stacks, audio files, drawings, store PDFs and photos, and its free though there are extra features that you can pay for. I would definitely recommend looking into it.

Ok, cool. How much does it cost?

It's free for just the 'basics', which is actually a lot. That's the version I'm currently using. The paid version has a few extra gadgets and more new storage per month, but I've never gone over my storage and I don't need the extras.

You definitely should. I reccomend trying it for a while before you knock it though. It took me a while before it felt natural to use.

My experience with basic Evernote: I can't access most of my synchronised notes offline with my iPad. Perhaps a few, but in general I have to create a new note when I'm offline or be working on a synchronised note as I move out of wifi range. Offline access is a Premium feature.
That said, I do use Evernote quite a lot when I'm out and about. Not so much as I used to, now that I have Scrivener. The synchronisation feature is probably what I like most about it, since I use Evernote on two devices.
Search and single file repository are quite useful too. So are Evernote Links.

Really? I can usually access everything offline on my phone, even when I've had the app turned off and I get back on. Maybe that's a glitch. XD shhh. Don't tell them.

jliessa44 and Dmitri Pendragon: So, just to clarify: What do you normally use EverNote for? Because I'm not 100% clear on that. But I looked it up, and I can get it on my computer and probably on my phone as well without a problem- but I need to know what I'd be using it for to determine if it would be worthwhile. Also, thanks for letting me know about the offline thing.

I use it mostly on my phone to record random writing/writing for actual projects that I can transfer easily to my computer later, web clipping research from the web and dividing it into folders by research topic/project/general wherever it'll be the most helpful, character profiles, plotting ideas/flexible outlines, setting descriptors, and most recently I've started using a project index in each file with links to/descriptions of the other notes in each project notebook

I just use OneDrive and Cortana. Syncs all my docs, notes and calendar reminders between my droid and my PC. Plus free MS office, wooh

I also hate Siri. Both of them I hate with a passion. My siri is turned off. Lol. And on second thought, my last post was a lot harsher than I meant it. Oops.

Seriously tho, AIs get on my nerve. I'm so like anti anyone knowing everything about me I don't even let my phone use predictive typing. Lol. And yet I revel in the Internet. I am a paradox of stress.
Heh. True, hard to believe it's been that long though.....

Yeah. Same. Though, tbh I usually just wish I was younger in general again so I could relive the good parts.

jliessa44: Cool beans. Danke. I have not yet set up Cortana on my computer to know if I like her or not . . . basically, I haven't made the commitment to a Microsoft account. I'm curious, and I think the idea sounds interesting, but, yeah.

Heh. Don't we all want that...sometimes. But that being said...I wouldn't relive my second two years, not even to get the first two back.
I love my Microsoft account a lot more than my Google one

Leilani Sunblade : I use Evernote for working on my worlds or characters when I'm out and about. I have a wiki-style repository for an older version of The Teller's Apprentice, but I don't use it much anymore because most of it is outdated. I also take notes on my iPad using Evernote when I'm at a conference or something. Basically it's my go-to app for when I'm not at my computer. Michael Hyatt (former CEO of Thomas Nelson) has quite a bit to say about Evernote on his blog.

Dmitri Pendragon: Thanks for the information. I looked at a couple articles, and I'm thinking I will quite possibly get Evernote- it sounds like it'll be useful for more than just story-building, and more efficient than what I use now (which is doing everything on Notepad on my phone and then having to copy it to whatever else). Thanks!
