I work in shipping now! The library 'let me go' due to a bunch of budget cuts and honestly I was happy to leave. The overall mood of the place was so depressing and it was affecting my mental health and I was glad to have a reason to leave without quitting. My uncle referred me to my new job, and I've been here for a year now and I love it.

Oh, that's great! I'm glad you're doing something you enjoy more than the library.

Totally not replying to a conversation I had nothing to do with. ;P
I have the coolest boss ever. He's not very old, and he has you on with lots of stuff, but then he also can work and be totally focused on work. I'm really glad I'm working for him. He's also a Christian which is really cool.

(Already posted this on my story/writing thread, but wanted to post it here for everyone to see anyway) Tomorrow I will be going to Tennessee for a vacation, and I am feeling utterly nostalgiac in the purest sense. Back a million years ago (somewhere when I was 12-14 I don't remember exactly and don't have a photo album to trace back on me haha), I discovered the Underground for the very first time. I found friends who all read the same books, listened to the same music, and had the same interests as me, and I was ecstatic. I spent many an hour of my childhood there, doing all kinds of things, and it was honestly the highlight of my teen years. It was that year (when I was 12/14) that we went to Tennessee for the very first time, and I remember spending an entire day talking to all of my friends (Leilani Sunblade, Ada Valorbrand, Meg whose last name escapes me, etc.), since I wouldn't be able to talk to them for a whole week. I'm currently listening to all of my playlists from that trip (I'm 21 now), and I'm equally happy and sad at the same time. I'm so happy that I was able to make those memories and have the experiences/make the friends I did back then, but I'm saddened that the UG has passed out of her glory days. Thank you to everyone who's ever been on here. It's a community that's done a lot of good, and still does. Thank you all!!!

Hey'a, Lylyss! Nice to see you here again! I'm doing well; a bit busy at the moment because of my internship, Indie e-Con, and prep for my family's upcoming vacation. How are you doing?

Internship? Niiiiice! xD I was gonna try to get one of those this summer but I missed all the application deadlines. Just wait until next year, though. :P Is the internship going well so far? I'm doing pretty good. Just flew back to NZ last week, intending to spend the summer here, probably get a job or something soon. :P In the meanwhile, catching up with friends and trying to get some writing done.

Lylyss: Awww. And yes, it's going great! I really enjoy the stuff I'm doing, and I'm working for a graduate of my major. Plus I get to work from home, which is super nice. I'm sure you're glad to be back in NZ. What are you writing currently?

@leilani: Glad to hear it's going well! What's your major, out of curiosity? I'm still working on Kleio's story, which has undergone a pretty massive metamorphosis over the past year or so. :P Lol. At least I think it's getting better.
@liessa: It's good to be home, but to be honest, I prefer being at college with all my buddies. xD There's not nearly as much stuff to do around here. Except catch up on television.

*piles up sprinkly donuts as they fall for later eating* Quite well thank you! Inching ever so slowly toward the completion of my final assignments and fighting the ever-looming, ever-larger spectre of my 21st party. I suppose you could say that time pulls me in different directions as if the Roman general Gaius Marcello had demanded me drawn and quartered.

Glad to hear you're doing well! Sounds like you're pretty busy, lol. xD D'you have anything fun planned for your 21st birthday party? Geez, dude, I remember when we turned sixteen...

Post by Dmitri Pendragon on May 25, 2018 8:40:06 GMT
Haha, I've decided that "busy" lacks any inherent meaning of its own and instead carries the relational message "please go away, I don't want to talk to you", mainly if unaccompanied by supporting statements about that which causes the state of busyness.
You have touched upon the very essence of the spectre—plans. I HAVE NO PLANS. I have ideas which are being pursued, but no plans, which is the most heartfelt cause of the dreadful shadow. (Mate. Sixteen was a LONG time ago. I'm looking for our original chats on Hangouts and am having to scroll up a LONG way. LONG.)

XD An astute observation my friend. When used in school contexts, however, the word "busy" can also bring to mind an image of stacked paper and uncomfortable chairs and cluttered desks.
Lol. I know the feel. Are you trying to decide whether or not you want to celebrate with a party or just have a private family affair or a cupcake by yourself? xP And yes. Sixteen was a long time ago. Although I must admit that those hangout conversations were the highlight of my day. After getting off the schoolbus, I would literally throw down my bag and open the computer and spend three hours chatting with you guys. xD

That is true. In that case, let your mental picture of me be as one of a prisoner in his cell, years from the light of blessed release, scribbling madly with a broken quill on the lowest sheets of a stack of paper that breaches the limits of reality in skyrise profile.
The idea is a dance-and-dessert evening for family, friends and other people significant to me. Haha, my experience of sixteen was different from yours. I had no physical division of school/home, so as I recall I would check at various points throughout the day for that small green dot to appear by your profile picture.

Oh goodness. xD Do I need to break you out of prison? I brought my grappling hook and pickaxe (somehow the NZ customs officials let them get through).
Lol. Some parts of being a teenager were really difficult, but I'm so glad we had that time together. As soon as that green dot appeared, I was like, BAM! I see you, Pendragon! xD Sundays were the worst though because I had plenty of free time but you and Raptor were never online. :(
Probably need to call it a night for now, but I'll be back tomorrow, unless my mom makes me socialize. >.>

Oh dear, looks like we have very poor airport security. Reminds me of our time in Rome with that pandemic spill when I took your character and her baby hostage and vanned them off to Dragon Point for torture. Ah, good old days. Yeah, come break me out.
Wouldn't have missed those years for anything. Remember those first few Hangouts calls, where we materialised as flesh and blood for the first time rather than words on a screen? That was surreal, coming as it did after our weeks/months/years of talking every day. How long will you be in NZ this time?
Allxora! Tell her that yes, you are socialising, albeit in an unconventional manner. (Or is it socialising with your family that she will emphasise? In that case you should do some of that.)

Well, that was an amusing reunion. xD Lylyss : Professional Writing and Information Design. So, basically, any type of writing and design that's doesn't fall under "creative" or academic writing. Sounds like fun! I'm sure that it is gett better. What kind of job are you thinking of looking for?

Dmitri: Oh geez, how could I ever forget the pandemic spill? xD You and Raptor have so much fun depriving my characters of their children. *throws grapping hook and climbs up the dark tower of your prison* *takes out pickaxe and begins hacking at the barred window*
Lol. Those video calls were pretty uncanny at first, but it was fun to see your guys' faces for the first time. xD I seem to recall that your little siblings made an appearance too. Gamey and I will be in NZ until August this time. Then--this is gonna make everyone feel old--both of us are returning to the USA for college. My little brother is going to start at the same university as me. :'D
Leilani: Hey, sounds cool! I guess that would mostly be marketing, journalism or blogging? I'm probably gonna get a very glamorous job at a supermarket or, if I'm lucky, a cafe. Back to the wonderful world of food service!
Warrior: Hey Warry! :D It's good to be back. How're you holding up these days?

I reiterate Leilani's sentiments :P
Ah, how I've missed you all. It's been so long since I frequented these halls with any active frequency, though I've been actively ghosting all along.
Lylyss! How have you been?
Dmitri, you're turning 21 soon? That's exciting. I just turned 21 a few weeks ago, and it was not exactly a large affair. Granted, I was also in the midst of finals week and my friends and I were too busy being stressed to do much celebrating.
EDIT: LY. WAIT. HE'S GOING TO COLLEGE???? WHAT. Wow. My goodness, what has life come to. My sister is starting college next fall as well. What in the world...
TBH I still really want to meet you guys in a manner that exists outside of this forum.

Ellron! :D I've been good! Busy and stressed, but in constructive ways. xD How about you?
I know, I know, our little Gamemaster Grimwarden is on his way to the the ivory tower, ready to make his debut in the halls of higher ed. :P Pretty crazy, isn't it? Are you still at university these days?
*sigh* I've wanted that for a long time you guys. :( Skyping is pretty fun but not quite the same.
