Warrior: Yes, take over the world, no rest until the flag of Warrior flies over every courthouse ;) I think Gamey's going to study computer science. He really wants to get into game design.

That's right! History, with a Classical studies minor so I can go on to study Ancient Rome. :D

That is great! Some day you're going to lecturing about the treacherous and convoluted structure of Roman society, and their great works of literature, and all that.

Dmitri: Oh geez, how could I ever forget the pandemic spill? xD You and Raptor have so much fun depriving my characters of their children. *throws grapping hook and climbs up the dark tower of your prison* *takes out pickaxe and begins hacking at the barred window* Lol. Those video calls were pretty uncanny at first, but it was fun to see your guys' faces for the first time. xD I seem to recall that your little siblings made an appearance too. Gamey and I will be in NZ until August this time. Then--this is gonna make everyone feel old--both of us are returning to the USA for college. My little brother is going to start at the same university as me. :'D Leilani: Hey, sounds cool! I guess that would mostly be marketing, journalism or blogging? I'm probably gonna get a very glamorous job at a supermarket or, if I'm lucky, a cafe. Back to the wonderful world of food service! Warrior: Hey Warry! It's good to be back. How're you holding up these days? Warrior: Yes, take over the world, no rest until the flag of Warrior flies over every courthouse I think Gamey's going to study computer science. He really wants to get into game design.
Not journalism. That's another major entirely. But marketing, yes, blogging as it falls under marketing or corporate communication, plus technical writing, instructional design, and editing/publishing. I'm hoping to go corporate communication or instructional design. Ouch. Have fun with that. Try not to let grumpy customers kill you.
Also: Gamey's going to be in college? But I can see him doing game design; that makes sense.

I hope so. How're you doing these days? [ I'm doing pretty good. Graduated with my associates in December and I'm working at Starbucks until at least August. Maybe later. Then I'm moving to Columbus to start work on my Biochemistry Bachelors. Feeling old reading all the talk about getting older though....

I'll be starting on my bachelor's in international business in the fall. This is starting to feel like the time gap between the second and third Berinfell books. We're all growing up... (at least on the outside xP)

Well, that was an amusing reunion. xD […] Also, Dmitri Pendragon , you're almost 21? Nice! My little brother is going to start at the same university as me. :'D […] Dmitri, you're turning 21 soon? That's exciting. I just turned 21 a few weeks ago, and it was not exactly a large affair. Granted, I was also in the midst of finals week and my friends and I were too busy being stressed to do much celebrating. Leilani Sunblade : You know it! Yeah, I'll be 21 in less than a month. Lylyss : You know, I had such plans for that battle, one of which involved nothing less than a plane flying so low over the road that its wheels rip the roof off the high-tech van your character was in. *shoves at barred window from inside* Haha, video calls attract a lot of attention—the younger children go SOUND VIDEO VROOM VROOM and are difficult to detach. August? Awesome! Great to have you back for a few months. (Wow, Gamey is so old…he's all grown up now… *wipes away tears of nostalgia*) Ellron Silvertree: Owch. Yeah, I can see why a large affair would not be a good idea in finals week. Happy belated birthday! I could have nearly been older than you.

Very cool! Are you hoping to do that on the side while you keep writing novels? It seems like a good way to keep your skills sharp and also rake in the big bucks. ;) I know, I know, it's so hard to believe. He's really looking forward to college though. Never happened to me, though, when I worked at Chick-Fil-A. xD As for being old, yeah, I get that. >.< It's especially frustrating because I feel like I'm juuuuust finally enjoying my rebellious phase and most of my friends did this at sixteen. Ahhh. I don't even have much of anything to say, I'm just happy to see you all. Well, "see," being used rather generously, haha. I feel ya, Ellron. xD Are you still in college these days?

Under the care of the Jedi something-or-other *hurries to look up her name* Eerikim Hol, Jedi Consular/diplomat. (Haha, I had the CaC2 blog on the top left of my Top Sites for so long that I still move my mouse pointer there automatically when I want to look something up. Even though I haven't had it there for years.) And then Essa and Javez took her to Belac the Hutt…all-too-innocently named after you-know-who. Ha, they've grown so much you wouldn't recognise them. I can't remember all the names we gave them…Cucumber Monster or something? Tyrannosaurus Bex. Target Acquired. (Though the latter wasn't really a little tyke even then…)

Hey all of you on Whitehall! I have an announcement to make. (LOL, so dramatic! XD) Theinconceivable1, Leilani Sunblade, and I are starting a role-playing game thread on here soon(IDK, maybe two weeks?). We're still planning and such, but it will take place on a new world and so far, Inconceivable is the villain, I'm the hero figure, and Leilani is the "God/Mother Nature" figure, who oversees the whole story and such. But we are more than happy to open it all up to anyone else who wants to join! If you would like to, please let us know. There's plenty of time to think about it and decide on a character if you want. We may be coming up with different races, so if you have any ideas for some then just tell us cause this world is in great need of original creatures. Apparently, Inconceivable needs a henchman. XD IDK.
Any questions?

Additional info on the plot, if anyone's curious: at the moment, the RP will probably start off with a fetch quest, with both LostLord's character and Inconceivable's character after a powerful MacGuffin (exact details to be revealed later on). We'll see where it goes from there depending on who gets the thing— the villain and his empire, or the hero and her crew (whoever they might be).
Also, I would just like to clarify . . . when she says I'm the "God/Mother Nature" figure, it's more along the lines of "impartial almost-GM," in that I'm making sure that the story keeps moving in a narratively satisfying fashion and that conflicts are resolved in a reasonable manner, not that I'm playing an actual god character. (I mean, I'll probably be playing a variety of NPCs as necessary for plot purposes, and there's always the off-chance that one of those will be a godlike character, but I'm not planning on it.) Just wanted to clear that up before someone starts thinking that Leilani is finally letting her Sentinel powers go to her head. xD

Lol. XD Sentinels are not to be trusted. Gah. I kinda want to, but I'm so wary about committing to anything atm.... but also I used to love rps..... This sounds more like a dungeons and dragons kind of thing?

Post by Leilani Sunblade on Jul 10, 2018 18:30:42 GMT
It is a little more D&D-ish than most of the old RPs, yes. I think RPs in general have been heading slowly in that direction. That said, I don't plan to go full-on GM, directing everything. More, I'm making sure people don't get bogged down because they don't know what to do next and that we don't spend fifteen pages on one fight because neither person is willing to let their character lose. And I totally get your concern about committing to this, but I don't think it should be too fast-moving. And I'd love to have you join in.

Post by TheLostLordofAllyra on Jul 16, 2018 2:40:10 GMT
Ooh, nice, jliessa44! I'm so excited! I think we've kinda established that races and characters of the fantasy world are just whatever you want to put in there. (right?) Cuase it's kinda like a world that has a good amount of portal action going on so different races are just coming in and going.
|
|
|
Post by Leilani Sunblade on Jul 16, 2018 12:37:36 GMT
TheLostLordofAllyra: Yep. Spot-on; I was just waiting to say that to make sure you and Inconceivable were cool with it. So, yeah. The basic concept I came up with is that the world is on the receiving end of a ton of portals from other worlds, and while it has some native peoples, it also has a large population of either people who accidentally came through portals from other worlds or descendants of such people. So, yeah. You can do basically whatever as far as race goes, though if you're going to play a character whose race has several variants, it's helpful (for me) if you note which variation you're doing. (For example, if you're an elf— are you a Tolkien elf? Berinfell elf? Algaesian elf? Your-own-world elf? Generic fantasy elf? etc.)

|
Post by jliessa44 on Jul 17, 2018 1:17:05 GMT
Sweet. I was kinda thinking a mix between a mirkwood elf and a generic wood elf. Are you guys going to have a specific form?
As for good or bad... I dunno. XD I'm not so good at bad characters.
|
|
|
Post by Leilani Sunblade on Jul 17, 2018 1:30:22 GMT
Cool beans. As far as forms go, we're just using the usual RP form. I'll put it at the end of this post in case you don't have a copy available for easy reference. I do remember that your villainous characters had a tendency to turn good eventually in a lot of the old RPs. Especially the Battle! thread. xD Form: Name: Age: (apparent and/or actual) Race: (for example: human, elf, dragon, etc.) Physical Description: Personality: Main Goal/Motivations: Natural Abilities: Special Powers (if any): Weapons: History:

Random question completely unconnected to the previous discussion: how do you pronounce the following words/names? Specifically the Ae?
Aethelbald Aedon Aethan Aether Aetius
|
|
|
Post by Dmitri Pendragon on Jul 23, 2018 2:03:56 GMT
It depends on the sounds that follow it. For Aethelbald and Aether, both of which I'd pronounce with a soft TH, I would pronounce AE as a plain E. In the other three cases (Aedon, Aethan, Aetius) I would pronounce AE like a hard A, as the sound made by AY in "say". (Aedon is the easiest to pronounce like this because it has a voiced D rather than an unvoiced T following the AE; although Aethan has TH like Aethelbald and Aether, the TH is followed by an A in Aethan rather than an E as in the other two; and Aetius I've already looked up the pronunciation for. )
