Welcome, friends, to a thread that has lain dead for too long. Admittedly, it was a thread of unfinished first drafts and half-baked stories that made you rip your hair out in horror. To that end I worked tirelessly. But for many months now it has been comatose.
No longer! It is reborn! Reborn in all its glorious wordplay and loving praise and comma splice errors! What? Do you wonder if this rebirth is cause for concern? Oh, you Doubting Thomas! Is it cause for concern? The answer is obviously:

By the way, guys, replacing a roof for the last few weeks has given me plenty of time to think about many existential things. For example, something I've wondered for years, do earthworms ever get poison ivy? If you dropped an ant off a twenty story building without a breath of wind, would the ant be too light to splatter?
Another thing, I've finally decided what my gravestone will say. Beneath my name, beneath the dates, I will have written the message: "BRB "
I don't think earthworms do, because urushiol from PI penetrates your dermis and causes an allergic reaction of your immune system, none of which I believe are applicable to earthworms. Nope, an ant will be fine. It has such little mass that it has a very low terminal velocity. Heheheheh do it. I wanna have someone dress as the Reaper and stand at the edge of the graveyard during my funeral

Of course he was always a little rascal. But yeah. It was pre-CaC2 days (or very earlier in the battle). He didn't have his scars yet.
It's weird because, while I was writing Kian in CaC2, I always floundered with what exactly his arc was supposed to be. In hindsight, I now know exactly what it was meant to be. And oddly enough, I nailed it right at the beginning, but lost sight of it later. Remember the Battle of the Assassination of Senator Twee Do? I now realize that Kian was always supposed to be closer to that early Kian than the cliched, stereotypically angry one he later became. It would have been a much stronger story had I known that. Oh well. Nothing I can do about it now.
Haha, yeah, that's the problem with RPs. You've got to figure everything out as you go along. Sometimes that leads to some weird places... but I guess melodrama and confusion are just part of the process. It's an opportunity for all of you plotters to indulge in some seat-of-the-pants writing. xD Besides, if you hadn't dragged Kian through all that mess, you would never have discovered his real character arc. And I wouldn't have so many memories of us, freaking out at our respective computers during the Battle of Cloud City. xD

Yes, CaC2 was awesome. The Battle of Cloud City was pretty much the peak of it. Although, I have to say, I don't miss the seat-of-the-pants part of it. While some of it was amazing while roleplaying with others, some of it was dreadful. Almost always it was because I wrote myself into a hole.

Word count log:
August 10th: 1,026 August 11th: 1,345 August 12th: 1,162
(My minimum goal for those days was 1,000 and my optimum goal was 2,000)
Projected word count to finish my word goal (and therefore my novel) by August 16th:
August 13th: 1,000 August 14th: 2,500 August 15th: 2,500 August 16th: 3,000
This would put me at a little over 38,000 words total on my novel. I think that's about where the book will end, but if I find that I have to write another thousand or so on the last day, I should be able to do that. The most I've written in one day on this project is 4,026 words.

Well, I didn't stick to that schedule. But I'm almost done the book anyway. About 3,000, possibly 4,000 left. I don't plan on doing any writing today, though. I just got a book by Madeleine L'Engle so I'm going to read a lot of that.

Time for a nostalgia trip! I went back on archive.org and copied the CaC2 tags. I love these. XD The hilarious tags people put up will always be something I miss about the old forum.

I finished Out of the Shadowlands. And only ten days behind schedule, too! It's a bit less than 35,000 words, due to my deciding to cheat a bit by underwriting a vague part of the outline. But I am satisfied with the direction of it, even though the climax and resolution are a bit muddied and don't have the maximum emotional potential. In total the draft has taken me 74 days to write.
Dmitri Pendragon: Elytra: Wait, it's actually referring to the oldest post on the Underground? (I never did chase that down in fact…)

Leilani Sunblade: Rose: Welcome to Whitehall/the new Underground! Glad to see you found your way here. As Elytra said, the riddle's pointing towards the old site and, specifically, a scavenger-hunt type game that WTB and CH set up when they first released the book

Leilani Sunblade: Sadly, the game is over, but we still have fun here.
