((Got it. That's what I thought; just wanted to double-check. How far did she get, or did you not decide that?))
Mr. Potter pushed through the forest, grumbling to himself in a way that suggested he wasn't really upset, just a bit aggravated. Alice had disappeared. In some cases, if one of the special folk he was sheltering disappeared, he'd think nothing of it, and later, he and Mrs. Potter would find some note and perhaps a token of thanks left around the house. But sometimes he worried. Sometimes enough to go out searching. And this was one of those times. Alice was free to go as she liked- but she was young, and disturbed, and if she was going to go he'd rather she had directions to someone else who could help her and whatever supplies they could spare for her than simply be wandering around alone. And, so, he pushed onwards, hoping that she hadn't gone too far and that he'd pick up her trail soon, or else that Mrs. Potter, calling anyone in the vicinity who happened to be in their same business, would have better luck.

((So. It's summer, y'all. And summer means that most of us in the Northern Hemisphere, at least, should be off school and have slightly more free time. And more free time means that we might be able to temporarily revive this thread, or another RP thread, which I think would be cool because I honestly miss roleplaying. I have an idea for a potential plotline- a team of ordinary humans going up against supervillains who've taken over a city- though I'm still working out the details to make sure it's doable. Anyone interested, either in my plotline or in some other plot (either on this thread or elsewhere)?))

(I be down. I could play both a human and a supervillain. I find it works best if my human finds themself at odds with another player's villain, and my villain against another player's human. Me vs. me always sucks x) (Also maybe I can work up inspiration for the Alice plot again. If anyone would like to join that fairly simple subplot that'd be cool.)

((So, as per the usual, time and I are not keeping in touch very well and my yearly hiatus kind of snuck up on me, as in, it's starting on Monday. So I figured I'd get what I know up now and hopefully if people are interested I can work out the rest of the details that I need to know and other people can make characters while I'm offline and we can get started when I'm back. IDK if that works for anyone else, but until I know otherwise, that's what I'm aiming for. Anyway. Details that I know: - No one's quite sure why the supers- Epics or Big Bads, they're called by most, depending on how much slang I steal from the Reckoners- got their powers. All people know is that it happened around five years ago and things went downhill from there. At first, people thought there'd be both heroes and villains among their number, but time proved that power corrupts; all those who received superhuman abilities turned to evil. Some travel and wreck havoc in accordance with their wishes. Others set themselves up as despots, gathering lesser supers and power-hungry men to their service. In the case of our characters' town, it's the latter.
- Ideally, my plan was that our characters have been waiting for a while for the right moment to topple the villain who's taken over their town- and now seems to be that time, due to some event that's somewhat destabilized his reign. Depending on what sounds interesting and how difficult we want to make this, that could be the defection of one or more significant supporters of this villain, some kind of disaster that took out part of the villain's resources, or (my original idea) a second, more-or-less equally powerful villain challenging the original one and conflict going on between the two groups, which our characters take advantage of (though it also means they run the risk of the second villain interfering with their plans, and they'll eventually have to deal with him/her as well, if the original villain doesn't do it first).
- Epics' powers are varied in type and strength. The major, most powerful Epics have some kind of ability that makes them unkillable by standard means. That could be healing, invincibility, strong precognition, regeneration, anything of that sort. However, all Epics also have some kind of weakness, and exposure to whatever that might be will weaken or negate their powers (basically like Superman and kryptonite).
- Characters can have whatever background and such you like. When creating your character, it would be helpful to consider what role they might play in the team- are they the leader? the sniper? the point man? the heavy weapons man? the mechanic-type person? some combination of those roles? Discussing who wants what role before finalizing characters might be helpful. On that note: I'm stating up front that my character's primary role will be gathering and distributing information on the villains and coordinating people during attacks/missions/whatever you want to call them, rather than fighting.
- If you want, you can also play a villain (powered or unpowered) under the main villain. I know that NightBlade already expressed interest in that.
- Prior to the appearance of the supers, everything was pretty standard modern-day Earth. That means that tech and weaponry in this setting is also pretty standard to what we have now, though there may be some (fairly rare) items developed since that are more sci-fi-ish in nature.
- I don't know yet where in the world this takes place, though that does kind of affect how stuff will play out. If people have suggestions on that, they're welcome to post them.
If you have suggestions or questions, just let me know. Thanks!))

ETA. I might repurpose old characters actually... I'll have to think. I'd probably like medic and maybe scout person. I can do a super villain, but I think I'll need to know more about the story before I do. ))

(Hallo. I like the idea of another villain conflicting with the main one (and the heroes). However, it is 100% impossible for one person to make two villains conflict in a good, convincing way whilst roleplaying. Just as a warning. I think someone else should be the other villain. Conversely a normal villain situation is totally fine as well)
(Annd here is my super late villain capo)
-Name: Vane Tarrel -Gender, Species, Age: Male, Human(abnormal), late 20s to early 30s -Occupation: Caporegime for the main villainy organization, coordinating the actions of several lesser-ability or non-ability undervillains. -Appearance: Medium height and average build for a man his age. A narrow face, often with several day's partly-trimmed stubble, and thick, arched eyebrows over cloudy green eyes. His sable brown hair is fairly long and is usually pulled back in a ponytail that reaches to the base of his neck. -Clothing/Armor: Wears fairly normal outfits, paired with a few similar jackets of black canvas or leather. -Weapons/Equipment: Besides the usual switchblade or occasional handgun, Vane always weilds a weapon often resembling a baton of a dark metallic material. (See abilities) -Abilities/Skills/Weaknesses: Through the focus of a black metal ring, Vane is able to extra-dimensionally summon an object of the same material. It always remains within a few ounces of the same mass, but its shape can change each time he summons and dismisses it. The object does not interact with any earth material in ways such as conductivity or corrosion, and is higly resilient. Vane has full telekinetic control over the object, and thus weilds it as a ranged weapon by throwing and manipulating it in midair. Vane can also temporarily heighten his senses of hearing and sight by reducing his physical abilities. This involves halting any movement or activity, leaving him vulnerable if in the open. Outside of these abilities, Vane is not physically exceptional and prefers to solve problems with as little exertion as possible (or with his underling thugs). -Personality: Vane is focused on his tasks as a capo to the most nfluential villain of his time, and finds little time for other things in life. Socializing is something of a struggle that he tends to avoid, but he does feel rather lonely at times. He tries to build friendships, but given his position he never seems to succeed. There's got to be a heart in him somewhere. -History: (More tbd) Vane was making his way on part time jobs and the occasional petty thievery with the help of his sensory abilities, when he ran into (the main villain)'s organization. They roughed him up, but upon deeming him of possible use, brought him into the fold where he discovered his ability to bind to an extradimensional object under (the main villain)'s own tutilege and quickly rose to his current rank.

((Good to know on both counts. Thanks. BTW, just now had a chance to look closely at your character and he looks good, but you seem to be missing a weakness? Supers in this setting are supposed to have some kind of kryptonite-esque weakness (and it's fine if you don't want it to be known at first, but it would be helpful if you let me know). Just something to consider )) ((Also, should be completely off hiatus in a few days- Sunday at the latest. Hopefully I'll have characters ready by then.))

(Np. Ah yis, kryptonite esque. Hmmm.)
(-Abilities/Skills/Weaknesses: Through the focus of a black metal ring, Vane is able to extra-dimensionally summon an object of the same material. Note: The latter of these has been noted but not quantified, and the former has yet to be observed. Outside of these abilities, Vane is not physically exceptional and prefers to solve problems with as little exertion as possible (or with his underling thugs). Vane has additional vulnerability, however, to extradimensional objects (such as his own weapon) that he is not bound to. Depending on their mass, they emit a negative aura that repels or even weakens him in proximity, and damage him much more upon impact.

((Even if someone did create such a character, they'd have to come up with a very good explanation of why s/he was working to take down Vane, considering the concept of the RP.)) ((Also, I finally got my characters down. Yay.)) ((-Name: Mira Patel -Gender, Species, Age: Female human, 27-ish. -Occupation: Information specialist for the resistance group -Appearance: Mira is about average height and weight, with medium-brown skin and dark hair which she usually pulls back into a ponytail for practicality's sake (see attached image). She is, as she puts it, "fit enough:" fit enough to outrun potential pursuers long enough to find somewhere to hide, fit enough to not slow the rest of the group down in emergencies, fit enough to stay alive in a brief fight. -Clothing/Armor: These days, Mira mostly wears highly practical clothes: cargo pants in varying shades of brown and tan; long coats with large pockets; and t-shirts and sneakers in a variety of colors: some fairly unobtrusive for when she has to be out and about (as shown in the picture), others in brighter colors for when she's around the base and missing the old days. -Weapons/Equipment: Main weapon is a Springfield XDS 9mm. She also has a SigSauer P290 (also in 9mm) that she picked up from the corpse of one of the main villain's men a few years back. She doesn't carry the latter often and mostly just keeps it in case something happens to her main pistol (which would be surprising, seeing as she doesn't go into the field that much). Other significant equipment includes a phone large enough to qualify as a small tablet and modified so it also functions as a two-way radio (since cell service is often sketchy and probably bugged even when it works), a set of pocket-sized tools including screwdrivers, pliers, and picks, a pencil and small notebook, and various electronic-related odds and ends. -Abilities/Skills/Weaknesses: As previously stated, Mira is capable enough physically to stay alive in a pinch, but she's no warrior. Her real strengths lie in the field of information and technology. She's good at sorting through large amounts of info to find what she and the team needs, she has considerable programming skills (including decent, though not amazing, hacking ability) and enough computer/electronics know-how to rig up most anything the team might need. -Personality: Mira, as one might expect, is a fairly levelheaded, organized sort . . . for a given value of organization, anyway. She has her system, and she knows where everything is and what everything means, but heaven help those who try to figure it out without her assistance. She was raised to be quiet and unobtrusive, and that remains her default mode for interaction with others, but she can be quite forceful when she deems it necessary. -History: Before the supervillains showed up, Mira more or less had everything she could want: she'd just gotten engaged to one of her childhood friends, she was getting ready to start her master's degree in computer science, and she'd found a steady job for the summer. Then the villains appeared, the world turned upside down, and she found that she'd lost half her family- either because they were killed or because they fled the city- and her chances of further education. When her father joined the movement to resist the villains who took over, she followed him, and stayed after he was killed in an early mission. Since the supervillains appeared on the scene, even before they turned evil, she has been gathering information on them and their powers from any sources she can find, and has formed a network of others doing the same thing through the internet (which remains semi-functional in some cities, including the one they're in) and radio. -Name: Goes by Master Force. Real name is unknown to the characters. -Gender, Species, Age: Male, superhuman, late 30s to early 40s. -Occupation: Ruler of a mid-sized city. -Appearance: -Clothing/Armor: MF generally wears black and gold because he considers it the most dramatic-but-classy option. Some days this means a tailored black suit and domino mask with gold accents and trim. Other days it means black military-style armor. He does not wear capes. -Weapons/Equipment: Generally relies on his powers and thus doesn't regularly carry a weapon. If he really feels the need for a weapon, he'll take one off someone else. -Abilities/Skills/Weaknesses: Gravitational manipulation (essentially, can touch an object and change the direction/amount of Earth's gravity on it and its gravitational pull on other things; works on both animate and inanimate objects; changes are temporary and last for a shorter time the more dramatic the change; changes also last longer on inanimate objects) (yes, Dmitri, I got the idea for this exactly where you think I did), ability to turn incorporeal (takes a smoke-like form which inexplicably stayed together no matter what; can change personal gravity in this state but cannot change gravity of other things), and a strong healing factor (can heal from any wound that is not immediately fatal in a matter of hours). His weakness is currently unknown to the characters.illains of this world go, is relatively chill. Overly suspicious, even paranoid, yes. Power-hungry and determined to share his power with as few people as possible, yes. But he can be charismatic when he really wants to be, and he's smart enough to know when he's dictated enough and needs to act benevolent. Like many supervillains of this world, he has a tendency to look on ordinary people as if they're beneath him. -History: MF's past prior to his powers is more or less unknown. He was one of the earliest people to develop powers, and most assume he came either from the setting city or a nearby city/town. He took over fairly quickly and has defeated a number of other supervillains and a few ordinary humans who tried to challenge him. However, he recently experienced a rebellion among his own. One of his chief lieutenants turned on him, trying to take his position. MF dealt with the lieutenant, but known conspirators escaped and have been causing trouble for him. In addition, he suspects that others still among his forces are secretly against him as well, which is part of why he has yet to replace the rebel.)) ((For the record: yes, I know most of the information listed as unknown to characters. Also, I have two other superhumans in MF's pay in the works: one of his remaining lieutenants (who I'll probably post info for when I finish him) and one fairly minor (who I'll probably just throw in if necessary and have Mira give the relevant details on at that time).))
