Ehhhh. Maybe. I'm a little leery of merging. We've finally gotten settled into this one, and changing it all again isn't something I really want to do... Plus, as has been mentioned, this place has kinda wandered away from the books a little (or a lot). Whereas over there it seems strictly books. This is now more of a hangout for young Christian writers.

We could invite the people from that other forum here- tell them what the UG is and what we do and that they'd be welcome to join us if they're interested. And if they're interested, yay new people who we know we have something in common with. If not, oh well.
I wouldn't say to outright merge forums, though, for the reasons previously stated.

So we need to send someone over... Who volunteers? XP

An ambassador, in a way. I don't think I'd be up to the task, but a few others might.

I could but I'm stripped for time here near the end of the semester :/
So fun thought guys. All of our work on the old UG is up for grabs, now technically belonging to someone else

I'm pretty sure that everything that was on the old UG is gone- it's just the name that's up for sale.
Also: I probably could go as the ambassador, though I'm a bit concerned about the fact that this new window keeps opening 75% of the time when I click threads . . .

NightBlade: That thought just ticks me off... Leilani Sunblade: I know. New tabs keep opening for me, too. Instead of just going onto the page, it opens a new tab for it. Kinda weird, annoying and confusing...but hey, that's how they do it.

No, that's not what I'm talking about. If threads on that site automatically open to new tabs, that's awesome. I mean that I keep getting mini-windows popping up with something that looks like an advertisement but which I expect is actually spam.

NightBlade WookieeElf Leilani Sunblade : All of the work we did, all of the CaC2ing, all of the Supers battle thread, all of our writing on our writing threads belongs to someone else now, and they could actually use it.

That's what I said. But it's possible that they just erased the files and kept the domain

Elytra: I think they deleted it. Which still makes me mad.

@raptor Elytra: I don't believe so. From what Sir Hopper and Sir Batson have told me, I believe that the UG is gone- erased. All that remains is what was archived by members and the Wayback Machine and such.

The way back has actually only archived the home page.

Wayback has a few non-front-pages . . . but not nearly enough. Starsinger: Could you possibly send that to the Sentinel email account? I've been debating the idea of trying to put those threads that members have saved up on Google Docs or something so they can be reread. (Plus, I kind of want it for me so I can read through it . . . y'know. 'Cause I'm a CCaC fangirl.)

The way back definitely has a few pages, I've gone on some. And also, how could someone else own everything from the UG? None of it fell into any sort of intellectual property that I know of(which means that anyone could have taken our work and claimed it as their own anyways since we didn't claim it) and didn't the hack just shut down/crash the site and Sirs Batson and Hopper lost domain ownership? The domain is just the address itself, not the actual site, I'm pretty sure. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It's actually possible that the source files of the old UG are still out there somewhere, stranded without their domain path. Jag Starblade you know how it's possible to retrieve them, if this is the case?

Well everything the Internet exists somewhere. In a real computer (server). In a real hard drive (actually, hopefully more than one. Any data should really be on at least three or ideally five+ different drives in at least two physical locations). So if they still exist on that hard drive they should be recoverable.
I don't know what happened to the website specifically (whether it's just a domain name/DNS problem or whether the server itself was hacked). I'd need to get a more technologically precise explanation as to what happened.
If the server still exists as it did before, then Kevin Zoll should be able to just grab the files off the server and post them on Google Drive or somewhere.

Guys. It's the domain name. Not the actual server/information on the server. And it's perfectly fair that the domain name is up for grabs, since we aren't using it anymore. On a side note . . . the price. 777. I find that appropriate. Not very good if we wanted to buy the domain name so it could redirect here, but still. There's poetry in that number.

At least it isn't 66 & 3 + 3 XP
Seriously, though. Some guy is gonna get $777 for the domain name if someone buys it? Ugh...

Very true. xD
Well, that is how domain names work, I think. And it's not like we can do anything about it.
