Andy, can you delete my writing thread? I got the thread-making process goofed up and accidentally named it "A Place For Gamey to Post His Writings/Ideas etc on"

I believe if you edit the first post you can change the title yourself

Um, hey I don't think Andy made Jliessa an Admin.

Yes, Liessa has already let me know about that. I looked into it, but apparently Andy is the only person who can make people admins. I have contacted him and let him know about this.

Could we get the prayer requests to be made a sticky again/pinned up top or however that works here?

Definitely, Star. Thanks for reminding me about that.

Is there a way we can set up a redirect from the Old UG's URL to this one? So that future TBP fans who search the Underground don't end up lost? Or at least put up a notice in that URL to send them this direction?

Ellron Silvertree I'm sure there is a way to do that; however, I would assume that the owner of the domain name would be the only with such authority. Hopefully the hackers haven't taken the URL as well. I shall contact Mr. Zoll. Great suggestion! EDIT: Mr. Zoll said the site is completely offline, so a redirect isn't possible. :(

I was going to suggest the same thing as Ellron. So has the domain name itself been deleted? Because surely the owner could apply it to a new site? (Jag would know more about that than I do.)

Dmitri Pendragon That's a good question, and one that I do not know the answer to. It may be that the hackers took possession of the domain name, in which case they would be the only individuals with permission to institute a redirect. I could be wrong, of course. See what Jag says; I assume he is more skilled in this area than I. :)

HyperLinkzer: Do you want me to list my certifications? There are two ways to redirect a hostname to an IP address - the fancy/preferred/regular way (using DNS) or the quick & easy way (using a simple HTML redirect). To do the first one, we would need to pay ProBoards (https://www.proboards.com/premium-forum-features). The second way won't work because the old site is totally down. For an HTML redirection to work, there must be an HTTP site on the old server to store the HTML redirect tag. I assume this is what Sir Zoll referred to when he said that a redirect would not work. If a hacker did take possession of a domain name, it would be a matter of proving to the domain registrar that you were the original registrants of that domain name and them giving control back to you.

Ly: Heh. Cloaklover and I figured out that once you post 50 times your rank becomes Flet Soldier.

Yep. There are other ranks you can achieve as well, depending on how much you post.

One of my posts disappeared inexplicably. It was when me and Eaglam were poking fun about Nar Shaddaa. Anyone know why? If someone was offended, 1) I was not notified, and 2) it was nothing to be offended about

Weird. It had a picture attached to it, a "what now?" guy in a chair.
EDIT; I think I may have found it and my phone is just not loading images. But I think the post is still there, I just can't see it. Sorry for confusing you with my own confusion

I don't find them distracting- I'm used to seeing them semi-often on another forum- but I do find them annoying for another reason: they slow my computer down.

Post by Ellron Silvertree on Apr 4, 2015 1:39:18 GMT
The usually don't slow my computer down. And they only distract me when I look at them--half of the time I don't even notice them :P Though I do often use avatars as my primary method of identification, over even usernames, so they could possibly get distracting. But not as of yet.
Of course it also depends on how flashy or subtle they are.
