Valene started, opened her eyes. She clenched her fist, and her lightsaber activated with a buzz. She raised the tip to point at the Chaotic Gate. "They're in there." Of course they are. I probably should've thought of that first. Ver turned to eye the stormy energies of the Gate. "Well. I suppose that means we're going in there too- assuming there's a chance that they and we can come out again as ourselves?" In Valene's peripheral vision, Dedan dragged a can of fuel toward Elius's fallen body. Seconds later, the buzz of a lightsaber and hiss and roar of flame interrupted the conversation. Valene winced but kept her gaze on the Chaotic Gate. "I suppose so."

Ready?" Without waiting for an answer, she started towards the Chaotic Gate, paused just before it to steel herself, and then stepped through.

And then… changed.A wash of heat, damp and smothering, swept over Ver. High above a black sun floated in a black sky. Currents of red unlight twisted this way and that, some vanishing into the long shadows of floating mountains like pyramids torn up at their roots and joined at the base. A figure stood not far off, draped in darkness that obscured his shape. With a flare of red unlight, Valene pushed through the Chaotic Gate and gripped her ignited saber tight. The blue blade wavered, purpling around the edges, but remained lit. "Order of the day: Kill anything that moves?" She grimaced and patted her hip. "I should have brought a blaster. Or Destah's bow."

Given where they were, Ver wasn't sure exactly what the life-status of anything they might meet would be. At least our souls won't have far to go if we die . . . No, that was a dangerous line of thought. She and Valene were not going to die here. Ver shifted her grip on her lightsaber hilt. Valene was right; they should've brought distance weapons- or at least spare 'sabers. Honestly, they'd each probably gone through more weapons today than Ver had in the entire rest of her life. But there was nothing they could do about it now. "Let's get this over with. Keep your eyes open." She headed forward, towards the dark figure.

(( redralph : Welcome to the Underground! I'm Leilani Sunblade, one of the Sentinels (Administrators) here. This thread is Create a Character 2, a roleplay thread- essentially, it's a form of communal storytelling in which people make characters and have them interact with each other. CaC2 is Star Wars themed, set primarily during the Old Republic era, though we have on occasion tried to start up plots based in other eras. If you're interested, we have several other battle threads: a medieval-themed one, a superhero-themed one, and possibly one or two others that I've forgotten. Since you're new, I'd appreciate if you read the Underground Guidelines and the Private Message Rules, if you haven't already. These will give you an idea of how the Underground works and what we hope to see from members. If you have any further questions, feel free to bring them up on the Q&A thread, where I or one of the other members will be happy to do whatever we can to help. Or, if there's something you need to bring to a Sentinel's attention, you can ask your question or make your request on the Sentinel Feedback Thread, and either I or my fellow Sentinel, jliessa44 , will get back to you as soon as we can. In conclusion, welcome once again to the Underground, and I hope you enjoy your time here.))

(( gamemastergrimwarden: Ah, the Battle! thread . . . how I miss it sometimes. It didn't exactly come to a conclusion, per se, but there were multiple points within it that could've served as the end of the story if we'd been content to let it die. By the time the old UG was attacked the final time, the Battle! thread was on its last legs, as Liessa (the main other player besides myself) was busy, and the plot was virtually nonexistant. But it was fun while it lasted, and the characters live on in novels, at least the best ones do . . . Why d'you ask? I'm pretty sure you didn't just want to hear me reminisce.)) (( Dmitri Pendragon : I wasn't a big part of it either. All I really remember is my character falling off of a dragon and breaking into tiny pieces )) (( Leilani Sunblade : I just started thinking about a character that I had in it, about three-ish years ago. That was a long role play, probably the only one that could rival the size of CAC2. )) (( I wonder how long a synopsis of CAC2 would be now, considering every plot line? We have a 16 page synopsis on our computer and it doesn't even get to that big Cloud City Battle, about 500 pages ago. ))

((@gamemaster: Ah, ok. And I'm not sure about rivaling in size- since it was just Liessa and me and occasionally Tyler for a fair portion of the RP, it wasn't as content-heavy as some. But it definitely was long in time-span; it'd been going for probably close to a year when I joined, and I wouldn't say it fully ended until the UG went down. So that's roughly four, almost five years, while the SW plot on CaC2 has probably gone for about three and a half years.)) ((As for the synopsis thing . . . I'd guess at least double what you currently have, possibly a little more.))

She forced down a shudder. "What do you think he's waiting for?" "I don't know. And as long as whatever or whoever it is doesn't affect our mission, I don't care." Ver shook her head and wiped beads of sweat from her forehead. Odd; she'd always thought Chaos would be desert-dry and wildfire-hot, and the cracked and barren landscape suggested the same, but instead the air was almost as damp and muggy as that of a jungle. Which, come to think of it, is worse than desert heat . . . She pushed her thoughts back to Valene's question as a distraction. "Since he said he's an ally . . . maybe he's waiting for-" she almost said Elius, then caught herself, recalling who she was with- "one of those Sith ghosts out there who stabbed him in the back sometime so he can have whatever passes for revenge in Chaos." Refocusing ahead on the billow of smoke, she added, "How many Imarian would you say were probably in the village?" ((Question: Is the hooded figure Significant? Further ahead, the glow deepened, and a faint rustling sounded in the distance, the first sound yet in the deathly silence. Lost? Or gave away? Ver recalled the Mirror of Shades with too-vivid clarity. She had been tempted, nearly crushed, after only a few minutes. Elius had been in the Temple for years. How long had he resisted its pull? Yet in the end, hadn't it been his choice, at least in part, to give in? But that was unimportant now. What mattered was that he had fallen, whether by choice or not. And there was no need to antagonize Valene by questioning her father's will or lack thereof. So Ver simply nodded, said "I believe you," and then tensed as the rustling scraped across her ears. What was that? Were they so close to the Mouth already? Her finger crept towards the power switch on her lightsaber, but she refrained from turning it on- yet. No need to give their presence away if they hadn't been detected. Slowing her pace slightly, she reached out through the Force again, seeking a hint as to what lay ahead. Save

Flickers of the light side reached back to Ver's senses, quickly snuffed by darkness coiling. Hollowed minds, open and unshielded, struck out at Ver with mental blows.
Valene knelt by the depressions and studied the shape. She traced a dark depression with her fingertip and looked up. "I think they're footprints. The guy must have sent us in the right direction." She shot to her feet and gripped her lightsaber tighter. "Let's go!"

Valene matched Ver's pace and offered no response. The footprints glowed a brighter green and grew more numerous as the two progressed onwards. Another trail of footsteps joined them, this with reeking black smoke coiling from the depressions.
The air shimmered in front of them. Two figures glowing green stepped out of the ripples. The light of each lich illuminated indistinct black skeletons. Both of the creatures carried long swords glowing the same green as their bodies.
Valene stopped short and raised her lightsaber.

Just action. "You take the left!" Without another second's hesitation, Ver launched herself forward, aiming rapid fire strikes at the lich's limbs and midsection. At the same time, she reached out in the Force to grab the lich's blade and hopefully push it up and out of her way- or at the very least immobilize it. (So, question for Dmitri Pendragon and Leilani Sunblade and technically Elytra I suppose. If I were to write stuff about Javez, would it be okay to use Athia as a fairly main character, and perhaps an occasional reference to chaps like Rink or that Sith dude whose name started with J that Javez was frenemies with?) A few edits: Sunblade/Raptor, it cool with you if Athia is comparatively younger in these new writings of mine than when Rappy origninally introduced her? She was 13, but to fit in with my current Javez timeline and the Javez/Yatelle timeline that we had later dropped Athia into, she would need to be more like 10 at that time. Not that it really affects the historic Cac2 at all, but just asking for propriety's sake. Also, Dmitri/Raptor, how is it that her character entry on the blog says she died at Cos Ascos, if Sunblade continued to play Athia long after that?

She hemmed and hawed throughout the putrid process, but took great care with JJ's diaper, fastening the straps snuggly across his pink tummy. "Ughmygosh." Essa wiped her face with her wrists--her hands were too messy. "I'll bet it feels good to get that outta your pants, huh, bubby? Although your clothes don't look too clean either..." She made a mental note to buy him some new ones. Some cute ones. Flannel onesies, perhaps, or a mini leather jacket to match her own. Essa even thought about knitting a hat--but then she remembered: I'm leaving. She would never see JJ again. He would grow up in a bounty hunter pack, around guns and alcohol and uncovered outlets. Definitely not a child-friendly environment. Essa scowled. Somebody had to take care of JJ. Somebody smart. Gentle. Loving. Audri. While Essa didn't know Audri personally, she had caught her holding the baby once, when nobody was looking. She'll do just fine. As well as I would, anyway. And if Audri couldn't take him, there would always be room for JJ at the Haniri house. Imagine that. Not a ship, not a shack, not a hideout or a mansion-- a real house. A cozy, cluttered place that smelled like lemons. Essa asked to be left on Tatooine--that had always been her happy place. How had she described it? Good food, good bounties, good spaceport, bad crime. While the latter lost it's sway in her life, Essa was never comfortable anywhere that wasn't slightly seedy. She was a mom now. A very unorthodox mom who gave the kids lemon juice instead of apple juice, but a mom nonetheless. Mrs. Essa Haniri. Every morning she rose before the sun. Made breakfast. Made lunch. Made snacks. Cooked dinner. She told the kids stories about blowing up the sewers in Coruscant, kissed them goodnight and did it all over again in the morning. Was it repetitive? Boring at times? Of course. But as years trickled past, Essa found that she was still happy. Still content. She found found the "big picture" in the eyes of a child. ((That's The End. I'm not happy with the writing, but don't have enough time to make it any better. *shakes hands and gives out Sprinkly donuts to the bounty hunting crew, past and present* And now for Moriah. I'll add her reply pronto.)) Y'all remember the oulden days? This gives me snifflets Ah yes, and Dmitri Pendragon, perhaps Pyre was who I was thinking of? For a moment I thought it was maybe Jaraal. Idk, whoever Javez shot in the face

(( NightBlade: I'm cool with you using Athia. And I'm fine with the age thing as well; I've been fuzzy this whole time about what age she's supposed to be. Just make sure that if/when you write these stories, you let me read them. )) (( Dmitri Pendragon: Cool. Thanks for letting me know.))
