((Oh, look, I get to start rolling dice again.)) ((Also, apologies for the wait.)) Where did they- Ver flicked her lightsaber on, whipped it into a defensive position. No time for questions. Just action. "You take the left!" Without another second's hesitation, Ver launched herself forward, aiming rapid fire strikes at the lich's limbs and midsection. At the same time, she reached out in the Force to grab the lich's blade and hopefully push it up and out of her way- or at the very least immobilize it. Beside Ver, Valene engaged the second lich in much the same manner, stabbing and slashing. The lich's sword whipped back and forth, blocking each blow, and fluidly moved into a counterattack. Valene held her ground, exchanging blows with the lich. Dmitri Pendragon If you happen to already have decided this, what do you imagine Pyre's lightsaber hilt(s) look like?

(( NightBlade: Pyre works with mechanics and software as a side interest, and in the past I've given Pyre's lightsabers small additional functions like cameras and tracking devices, but as for their physical appearance, I haven't made any decisions. A simple practical design would probably fit Pyre's personality best, not a formal or ornate hilt.))

One I'd love answered as well! I haven't the foggiest idea why the word keeps appearing at the end of my posts- it simply shows up whenever I have a post with a quote in it. My best guess at the moment is that there's some small computer gremlin trapped in the web of internet coding and it's trying to write "Save me!" but it keeps getting cut off after the first word. Or it could just be a bug somewhere. That's also a possibility.)) Ver continued to press her attack in the same fashion. So the Force doesn't affect it? When she'd tried to grab the blade, it had slipped from her grasp like water through her fingers. That complicates things. Is it just the blade, or the whole creature? Probably the whole creature. She could still manage, though. Drawing on the Force for enhanced speed and awareness, she slid her grip along her lightsaber hilt so one thumb rested on the power switch. On her next few slashes and stabs, she flicked the power off and back on just long enough that the blade disappeared and reappeared behind the lich's blade each time it moved to block. ((Rolled: 16 to attack (13 check), 13 for Force use (7 check).)) Save

((Haha. Curious. If you edit the post and delete it, does it disappear, or does it reappear with no known explanation?)) ((I would apologiseā¦but I think I'd be redundant in doing so. I will attempt to do better.))
The lich made no motion to defend. Ver's reigniting lightsaber slashed open its reflective black skin across its chest. The green light pulsed strongly around the bloodless wound. The creature showed no sign of pain and instead pushed forward, opening the wound further, and stabbed at Ver with its own dark sword.
Nearby, Valene stumbled against the lich's attack and wildly parried the blows from its blade.
((Lich1: 20 to attack (critical success, 10 check) )) ((Valene: 2 to attack (10 check) / 11 to defend (10 check) )) ((Lich2: 8 to attack (10 check) ))

Hadar strode through the green fields of his home country. This was it, he was finally back. Just ahead of him, there would be his village. Hadar quickened his pace, wanting to get home to Mem and Pappi. As he went up the hill, he broke into a run. Then he crested the top. He was home! He could see the houses on their stilts, the half round doors painted their bright happy colours. Hadar couldn't stop himself. He sprinted down towards the village, his satchel flying in the wind. He reached the middle of the village. Empty. "Hey, where is everyone?!" He called. No answer. Hadar took a deep breath and walked to the nearest house. He climbed the ladder and knocked on the door. It opened. Out of the black doorway stepped a haggard shape. It was a old man. His long gray hair hung in wispy strands across his face, and behind them his blue eyes, youthful yet experienced, glimmered dangerously. They peered very hard at Hadar. He leaned heavily against a metallic stick. "Your people have been taken."

"Taken?" Hadar stood there, shocked. "By whom?" He felt himself going faint. He was home, but his home was destroyed. His breath started coming in short spasms.

The old man grabbed Hadar by the shoulder to support him. "They were taken by a group of mad aliens - for what purpose, I do not clearly know. However, there is no question in my mind that they have an evil purpose for them. My boy, tell me, what is your name, and whether you can use a blaster?"

Hadar stopped shaking. He looked at the old man. "You pull the trigger." He said. "I've never used one before though."

The old man's shoulders sunk even further and laughed unamusedly. "Very well." He handed the boy a blaster, but did not let go of it. "I see this is quite a shock to you, but I must know immediately whether you are willing to risk limb and life to find and restore your people to their village. Will you affirm the oath to never turn and flee in the face of horrible nightmares, to sacrifice your own life for the sake of another's, and to bear the hardest of tribulations on the quest we are about to set out on?"

Hadar didn't know what to say. Here he was, standing in front of this old looking thing, being asked to go on an adventure. "Um."

Hadar took a deep breath. His family was gone, maybe ready to be destroyed. "I'll do it." Hadar said. "Where do we start?"

The old man let go of the blaster. He took a deep breath and straightened his shoulders. His draping form rose up, and for a moment he stood with a long forgotten nobility. "I have a ship on the other side of the village. We must go to the Unknown Regions - to a planet called Rakata Prime. Follow me." He slowly descended the ladder and walked to his starfighter. "My name's Talmoran, by the way."

"I've never heard of it." Hadar said, following the old man. "Nice to meet you, Talmoran." A chill rose up Hadar's spine as he followed the bent old figure through the village. The place where he used to live, to play, to run, it was gone. This wasn't his home.

"Rakata Prime is a distant planet located in the Unknown Regions. The Rakatans are ugly things, inside and out. They look something like the cross between a hammerhead shark and a Mon Calamari. Give 'em a good whack in the eyes, that's what I do." Talmoran laughed as he swirled his metallic staff. Then he hobbled into the pilot's seat and motioned for Hadar to get in the gunner's seat. "I don't suppose you know how to use one of these guns either - I think you're just about to get a crash course. Look!" He pointed to an expansive lake. A squadron of submarine-like starfighters burst from the waters in an explosion of white foam.

Hadar froze. "Do you mean destroy them? He couldn't move. His fear of shooting was coming in to his being. He didn't even know how to shoot the guns.

"I mean exactly that!" Talmoran gave Hadar a long, inquisitive look. "Are you pacifist?"

"No, they just might not be after us." Hadar said, climbing into the gunner's seat.

Talmoran guided the plane into the air. "Fair enough. They'll tell us whether they are or not at any moment now." As they began to ascend, the amphibious starfighters zipped closer. Then streams of red lasers issued towards Talmoran's fighter. "I think they don't like us! Hold on!" Talmoran suddenly barrel rolled the fighter and turned up the boosters.

Poor Hadar had hardly got onto his seat as the ship rolled. He fell to the ground, knocking his head on the seat as he collapsed. He quickly jumped up though, and he strapped himself into the gunner's chair. "Oh dear. How do you use it?" He whispered to himself, reaching out and holding onto the yoke. Radar pushed onto the red buttons on top of the handles. Green laserfire erruped from the twin blasters on the top of the fighter, streaming towards the ground

One starfighter spiraled to the ground and exploded in the dirt. "Good job!" shouted Talmoran. But five more starfighters swept closer, several of their lasers nicking the side of Talmoran's ship. The starfighter began to ascend out of the atmosphere. "Do you see that fighter with a red insignia? That's the squadron captain. Take him out if you can!"

"I don't know how to aim this thing. What are you expecting me to do?" Hadar whispered. He twisted the yoke and the gunner's chair leapt to the side. Hadar was thankful for himself being strapped in, or otherwise he would have been thrown out. He twisted from side to side as laserfire streaked past, trying to aim at the captain. He pushed the twin red buttons down again.

Another starfighter went down. The remaining three fighters continued to gain on them. The red starfighter took the lead and fired again. Talmoran and Hadar's fighter was hit. Red lights and beeping noises went off inside their starfighter. Talmoran barrel rolled the ship again, just as they were coming out of the atmosphere. But the boosters were failing. They began to slow down. Talmoran deployed the repair bot, but at that moment the red insignia fighter launched two heat-seeking missiles.

Hadar screamed. "I don't want to die!" He shouted. He turned the blasters towards the missiles and tried to blow them out of the sky.

One of the missiles exploded - due to the heat it let off, the other missile went off course straight into the explosion. "Well done, Hadar!" shouted Talmoran. And now the boosters were springing back to life again. Talmoran laughed with a strange swagger, for an old man, as he gassed the starfighter. Then suddenly his laugh died away to a gulp. Straight ahead of them a large submarine-like frigate appeared. A dozen more fighters issued from it.
Talmoran swung the ship left and gave it all he could to put distance between them and the frigate.

Hadar whimpered. He wanted to get out. "Can't you go lightspeed?" He screamed. Hadar tried to aim at the fighters, but his hands shook fiercely. He held down the red trigger buttons.
