The Kingdom Series is definitely better for somewhat younger readers . . . I mean, they're good books, but they are rather predictable and the allegory is occasionally a bit overdone. The Knights of Arrethtrae, the sequel series, is less predictable but still heavily allegorical.
My recommendations: -Dragons In Our Midst by Bryan Davis- not medieval, but excellent Christian fantasy. -Tales of Goldstone Wood by Anne Elisabeth Stengl- some of the best Christian medieval fantasy I've ever read (though it's not solely medieval; there's cultures based on Sri Lanka and Asia as well). The first book does have a heavy fairy-tale feel to it through the first half, so depending on what kind of guy he is, that may turn him off. You could start him off on Starflower or Dragonwitch, though; even though they're the fourth and fifth books, you don't have to have read the first three books to understand them. -The Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson- funny, exciting, and inspiring Christian fantasy. The first book has a slightly younger feel, but it grows up quickly through the rest of the series. Also, this isn't Christian, but the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan is exciting and pretty clean.

Aviar Goldeneagle: ^Leilani summed it up nicely. They're actually really good. He also has a side-series based in the same world as the Christ-allegory, and they're actually really fun. Action, adventure, drama and some romance come into play. And the one about Jesus isn't exactly predictable. Well, we all know what happens, but it's different enough to keep you on your toes. And the bad guys are awesome—in a bad way, y'know. Heh, I'm gonna have to dig those out of my basement and read them again.

The Kingdom Series always left me with a sense of zeal and a desire for greater commitment to God. Perhaps they're predictable, but they're still a great series. I would recommend them even if they're not for Darbu ( ) to read.

Aaaah! Just finished Stormlight Archives Part One. Guess who's going to the library tomorrow? :D Honestly though. Kaladin was great. I grew strangely attached to Jasnah as well... Sadeas was fun too.

Kaladin's my favourite character from Stormlight Archives, followed closely by Dalinar and Jasnah. I'm sure I have a few other favourites, but those are the three I can name off the top of my head.

Kaladin's my favorite as well... you know who he would be buddies with? Elend. Oh, and Jasnah should marry Kelsier. ;) Lol. They're both intriguing, clever and very conflicted.

I can just imagine psychopathic Kelsier marrying Jasnah…I can't find a word to describe her perfectly, but I'm thinking of the alleyway scene where she displays her proficiency in Soulcasting. I'd hate to see anyone cross the two of them.

Oh geez. xD I might just have to write that fan fiction... Although when Kell found out that she was a noble, it might throw him off. :P

True. Although Jasnah isn't from the same nobility as Kelsier's archenemies. Still, I'm not sure if Kelsier would want to understand the difference. He's kind of…stubborn.

Kind of? Lol. They're both irrepressible. Now that I think about it, they'd probably fall out after awhile. Makes me wonder what Mare was like, though.

I was making an intentional understatement. Mare…I wonder the same. I'd like to see more of Kelsier's past, his first rebellion against the Lord Ruler and his Snapping in the Pits of Hathsin. And Mare.

;) I'd like to see that as well. Didn't Brandon Sanderson write a bit of backstory for the RP game?

A House of Ashes, you mean? Or The Eleventh Metal? I managed to read all of The Eleventh Metal before he cut short the sample on his website, but it's after Hathsin, when Kelsier is learning to use his Mistborn powers. He mentioned Mare quite a bit, though.

I'm not sure. :P If the Eleventh Metal is the one where he's talking to the guy who trained him, then yeah, that's the one. :) And good for you! Lol. Beat Sanderson to the draw. I guess you have to buy the RP to read it now.

You're welcome! I reread it myself. For a short piece, it's really good. Anyway, I have to be off now. Disappointing that we can't Cosmere late into the night, but it's already late into the night. The mists are coming out…I'm either leaving to fly through the mists with iron and steel, or I'm going to bed. One of those. G'night!

O.O *watches you fly through the night* *whisper* A Mistborn.... *slinks off to Keep Venture* *dons Mistcloak* *dashes over the rooftops with a crew of hazekillers* Friends by day, mortal enemies by night! After him! ;) Seeya later.

Lylyss: Awesome that you finished WoK. Words of Radiance will probably kill you, just as a warning . . . but in an awesome way. It has the distinction of being the only book that got me so upset that I had to set it down at one point and the only book that has literally made me dance around my room with happiness. So, yeah. It's amazing. Also, Kaladin is awesome. *nods* So is Shallan, but her awesome shines more in the next book.

I still haven't gotten Part Two… is Words of Radiance the same thing as Part Two? Whatever the case, it's on my shopping list. I liked Shallan as well, especially toward the end of the book. No spoilers please, but I can't wait to find out what happens when Jasnah finds out that the Soulcaster is missing. *fangirl squeal* The relationship between them was so much fun. *END SPOILER*

Lylyss: Hmm…I think you've finished the first half of The Way of Kings. The part you're waiting for occurs in The Way of Kings, so you can't have finished the whole book yet. Apparently it's been split into two parts for easier reading in some versions, since it's such a large volume—I looked it up on Goodreads and discovered they've done that.

*facepalm* I misread "Part One" as "Book One". Part that kills me is in Book 2, not Part 2. Part 2 is still good, but it didn't kill me. (Though, the version I read was full- 1008-or-so pages of amazingness- so I don't know where Part 1 starts and Part 2 ends.)

Lol. It's fine, Leilani. I'm still confused by it too. :)
*SPOILERS FOR WAY OF KINGS PART II* So… I finished part II. O.o There were several crazy twists in the last few chapters--I mean, the parshmen are Voidbringers? Whaaaaaaat? And Sadeas' betrayal was totally unexpected. Something was bound to go wrong with the plateau assault, but I thought that somebody was just gonna die--betrayal is way better. Good choice, Brandon. The old hospital king was a surprise too. Never thought that the grandfather figure would be our villain. *END SPOILERS*

Lylyss: Yep. See, that's the sort of stuff that makes me love Sanderson's books . . . he has all these plot twists, and they make perfect sense, but I NEVER see them coming and it's just like "What. What just happened. Oh. My. Pumpernickel." Just wait for Words of Radiance.
